TaraMaiden
You're useful on holidays - to those countries. I speak 3 languages too. So potentially, we have a world to explore. What languages do you know? Me: French Italian English Plus (handier than you'd think!) BSL (British Sign Language).

TaraMaiden
Learn commercially-viable languages. In the work-market, they could prove invaluable. Urdu and Mandarin Chinese are good for starters....

Imported
I think everyone should learn how to talk American. Every time I go to other countries, I can barely understand them. I mean, wtf.
TaraMaiden
Its an impressive trait. I'd love to learn something other then English but the very concepts behind other languages escapes me. Hell I barely now English xD This is the down-side of being British. English is a universally-spoken language. I remember watching a programme on tv about the unrest in the Middle East.... and the presenter was up in the dry arid foothills of goodness-knows-where, among the poor peasants, tending goats - and their English was truly impressive.... And believe me, these were genuine remote peasants... you could tell by their demeanour, quality of skin, general aspect, (teeth - or lack of them) and basic simple attitudes.... these were not people posing as goat-herders.... While others globally, and in such far-flung remote corners, are so good at learning English, we remain complacent, and expect others to be able to communicate with us. Which they do, more than competently. The only problem is - we have no clue what they're saying amongst themselves.... I could venture more, but it would derail the thread. soccerrprp
Or it doesn't matter? because i can speak 3 languages so far and I'd like to learn another one. I speak three and though women, or anyone for that matter, may think it impressive initially, it doesn't help with dating. I don't get the chance to use all three to continue to impress and the lady friend typically only speaks English, so no need to speak others. Nice skills, but won't effect your dating experience much. There are traits/attributes that are far more important than speaking languages.
BoneyHadger
I think speaking "five languages of love" would help more.
soccerrprp
I have a date with a woman who speaks 5 languages. We've had lengthy conversations and believe me, the mention of our polyglot skills came up once and for 5 seconds. After that, it was all about interests, laughing, expectations, perspectives of the world, hopes....that's the language people who are dating should be focused on....the things that matter most. Treasa
I think it's hot when a man can speak other languages, especially ones I don't understand terribly well. One thing that gets me super hot is when a guy will talk dirty to me in another language...even if he's really telling me his favorite foods. If he's saying it in a dirty way, it's hot.
HumptyDumpty
Well, I'm a girl but I can contribute as well here I think... I'm 22 now and I speak 3 languages fluently: german (native), english and french (I live in France for several years now)! I also know a bit spanish although it's awful and I decided to take up japanese as well! I had a japanese penpal and loved to write in hiraganas! It's a mentally challenging language, I love it! Now, I'd be attracted naturally to a guy who speaks other languages fluently! Let's say french and english! It'd be a joy, since not only I could talk in english but also, it's not a hassle finding movies etc... When you surf the net *cough*, you find a lot more in english and I prefer original voices... That's that! However, I'm more attractive I think, speaking many languages! Especially german, my ex was very eager to learn new words and he still remembers them! And he remembers me as well, I seem to be quite unusual I guess! It's quite unusual to come across someone who speaks that many languages! I traveled a lot as a child so I have lots of stories to tell, it's very interesting! So, it's always a plus! You come across as more intelligent and funny, I mean, you've seen things they probably never will in their lives! However... take care of yourself! A new someone who is willing to learn your languages (like my case, german), is perfect! It's a very special bond between you and the other half! And, you get to practice a bit your languages as well! I tend to get a bit rusty with spelling etc, you always have to work your knowledge! I think I'm not the only one who sometimes spends an hour searching for that easy-peasy word in that whatever language So yeah, that's that from my point of view
