ComingInHot
So. Yesterday early evening, my daughter & I are in the kitchen creating a brand new desert. We had been talking about the how sometimes in our own humaness and limitations, we can put God in a box. She's Ten. It started with, "Mommy are mermaids real"? There's a t.v. show saying they Are real.!! I tried to take the opportunity to explain how God created us as very unique creatures, in His image, and we're awesomely made* Then it happened... I get a call, don't recognize the # so let it go. My cell bleeps again w/a text. It's _________ (my 13 year old sons name). It's an emergency. Call me. My WHOLE world came to a screeching halt. I was already grabbing my keys, calling the # and yelling for my H to get in the car. He had been racing bikes and hit a car. We were there in a matter of seconds as he was in our neighborhood two three blocks away. My daughter started Praying, my H started Praying. All I could get out was "Please God, please... (repeat). Thankfully, he had his helmet on. No concussion, no broken bones, no signs of internal bleeding but scraped, cut, bruised and his front tooth broken. Thank you God!! I am eearily calm during these kinds of storms. (I tend to "break" once it's safe to do so) After getting the whole story and the facts. The woman drivi g the car had come to a screeching stop as she saw my son coming. He hit Her car. So this, I looked at the woman who at first I thought was there as a witness then realized she hadn't moved or said a word. I stood and a ed her if "that was her car". She looked at me and nodded, eyes Full of horror. I believe the Holy Spirit washed over me in that moment and I held out my arms to her. She literally collapsed into my arms and I just hugged her. I don't know if she knows Jesus or believes in God but I pray she saw the spirit in me and will forever hear my whisper of, "it's okay" and, God has got this, He has a plan". Anyway, fels good to tell this and my

Author ComingInHot
TFW, Thank You!!! My point, before I had technical difficulties w/this tablet, was that after things calmed down, I came onto LS and proceeded to Not be at my best w/some posters who Were being cruel in their comments to others. Where God had shown my son grace, I (even though I showed grace to the woman who was in the car) did Not show grace to posters that I KNOW are struggling. I have learned once again, how Easy it is to fall to my knees and cry out to our Father when the storm is raging then be thankful that He carries me through the storm only to be so arrogant and self-serving when the sea is calm and things are peaceful. I Will do better!!
DannyMason
God has got this, He has a plan". So when kids riding bikes do die when they're hit by a car, is that part of God's plan, too?
todreaminblue
So when kids riding bikes do die when they're hit by a car, is that part of God's plan, too? I guess that is up to the personal beliefs held by grieving families of the deceased if it is part OF gods plan........they choose to believe what they have all their lives to get through a horrible tragedy.........bad things happen to good people....life isnt all butterflies and safe ROADS...but you know that right....gods plan super cedes death......families will be together forever.........thats my belif....adn I pray to god every day to keep my family safe....soemtimes prayer is all we can do.......and hope......who would want to take those two things away from anyone in times of tragedy?HOPE and PRAYER......or times of giving thanks to gods above her son survived..........deb

Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death." (Isaiah 57:1, 2 NIV)

pie2
CIH ~ You are such a blessing . I'm glad your son is OK. It's funny...my brother had a similar accident when he was young. However, he never had a fear of biking afterwards. In fact, he went on to compete in BMX games for many years. Not sure if that brings you any solace (maybe you want him to steer clear of bikes for awhile ), but I hope he isn't scared to ride. (Oh, unless this was motorcycle racing?) On another note, I love the initial conversation you were having with your daughter...so cute! And making a brand new dessert? I love that (though I can't cook to save my life). You mentioned some misgivings about events that happened after the accident. CIH, the fact that you're repentant the most important part. Your heart is big, and God knows that. Thanks for posting, cih .
Grumpybutfun
Compassion in your time of anxiety shows great character, CominginHot. Also, admitting to not being compassionate to those who require more patience on LS is also full of character. I know I can relate and have to remove myself from the boards when I feel annoyance at some soul who is still learning the basic stuff. Grumps
