aisuru
Blah. My ex was a Martini drinker. I prefer a Manhattan. Or just whiskey in a glass And as far as the age thing. Take for example music, TV and movies. Of course there are things we liked together and shared. But there were many things I liked from my younger years that she didn't understand or couldn't relate too. Thought they were stupid. Kind of like how kids always think their parent's things are old, stuffy and lame. Obviously not as much as a gap in years here, but it's the same idea. Now is this absolute and always true. Of course NOT, But again, I do believe it played a small roll in our over-all incompatibility. Just sayin' Yes, at your age, you're into drinking a manhattan while sitting at home doing puzzles on a Saturday night. I understand.

aisuru
That's rude Nice denial. I will have you know that I drink vodka while doing puzzles at home. So there! I'm saving manhattans for my old age.
aisuru
I think a lot of stuff played a role in your incompatibility. Don't close yourself off to younger women just because you and your ex weren't compatible. If you keep ruling women out because they have things in common with your exes you're eventually going to rule out all women everywhere. Then you'll have to buy a Real Doll. TJH's deep dark secret - I keep a bottle of Maker's Mark hidden in the back of my closet in case of emergencies. PS. I have a lot of emergencies... I actually drink wine, beer, or whiskey much more than I drink anything with vodka. I hate sweet girly drinks . Me too! well, hating sweet girly drinks, not the part about alcohol hidding in my closet. I actually prefer vodka/soda.
Author mtnbiker3000
And yet, you didn't deny it. hahaha! Damn, you guys are rough. I already told you I don't have any support structure here. So yes I do sit around on Sat night and drink some cocktails. Usually perusing LS though, not doing a puzzle
metal_chick
Nice! We can both go to MB's pity party. I'll bring the party hats, you can bring the chips. You'll have to Skype me so I can 'virtually' attend too.

My constant companion for the past year left me, and my roommate hasn't slept at our house in almost 9 months (she squats at her bf's), and I've banned my neighbors from hanging out with me recently. So Saturday will usually find me posting here with a cocktail. I actually FINISHED Candy Crush this past Saturday night. That game has 335 levels.

And you're right, there were lots of variables at play. Not just the age difference. So, I will be sure not to close off opportunities just because they might be similar to the ex. Just doing a little mental gymnastics right now is all. Ya know, trying to make connections, fill in gaps and what not. Just part of this whacked game we're all playing... My weekends are usually filled with making funny faces at my dogs and just generally harassing them. Then I play on the interwebs for awhile (Lolsnaps and lamebook). Then I play on the WiiFit and do some laundry. Occasionally, I read a nonfiction book, or read part of the optional list for law school. Sometimes my friend and I debate which beers we hope to see at the brewfest. I actually turn down dates so that I can wear sweat pants and a ponytail. Now that I think about it, that part is awesome!

metal_chick
I made a profile on RSVP. Haven't replied to anyone yet. It's just the first step. Over the weekend I'll check out the matches and see if someone takes my eye. My friend is taking me out to one of the filthy pubs in the city in a couple of weeks where I am guaranteed to at least lock lips with someone. Back on the horse...

Hey, I like the sweats and ponytail look... I always loved it when the ex would rock that around the house, yet she never understood why. I also like the small T shirt look too. Casual, yet sexy at the same time. Maybe I just loved anything the ex would wear, or not wear. Damn I was so much more into her than she was me. What a jack-ass!! But I digress. Yes, a West coast party is definitely required. SF maybe??

aisuru
I got dumped in SF. On my birthday. In the middle of the street. 3 days later, the ex brought a new girl to a work party and whispered 'be nice' in my ear. Not the current guy..this was before him. Ironically, this douche is now trying REALLY hard to get me back. HA! Wow. That's awful. Ironically, my douchey ex ex is also trying to get me to see him. I breadcrumb him when I'm bored, and dodge every invitation out for drinks. :o

SuperGeek
I'm nearly in my mid 30s, divorced, and have been rejected 12 times (literally) in the absolutely SCREWY world of dating the past few months. I've given up for awhile. Just going to be a couch potato at this point. Starting a business, watching paint dry, yadda yadda. Going to travel too... Why the hell not? I have no kids either and that sucks. Guess I'm one of the few guys out there that won't be lucky enough to have them. So I feel you OP. I'm 3 YEARS post breakup. I've been single a long time (excluding no strings hookups). One thing I can tell you. I WOULDN'T GET BACK WITH MY EX EVEN IF YOU PAID ME 100 MILLION DOLLARS AT THIS POINT. Well you're funny, don't care about money (wouldn't take money to get back with your ex ), starting a business, like to travel, but also enjoy quiet nights at home (watching paint dry), and you aren't a player. I know that those are qualities I value, and I am sure there are plenty of other women who would too. You will find the right person
