King Bowls Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I'm 19 years old and training and want to compete in worlds strongest man one day. Though I fear being undersized. Do you guys here think its possible to close a gripper that takes 1500 lbs of pressure to close? Right now I can close one that takes 240 on a good day, one time, with my right hand. I want to have a grip more powerful than that of even the biggest, most powerful, alpha male gorilla. 1
Author King Bowls Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 1,500 pounds of force is an awful lot lol 1
crederer Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I didn't even know there was such a thing. Also your other post you made was kind of amusing...nice little banter going on there. 1

On the day you get that close your forearm muscles will all tear and bundle up near your wrist, freaking the gorilla out and causing him to beat you senseless. 1
EaglesBen Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I hate to break it to you but all grippers are measured by a torsion force just outside of the spring. Once the handles are added on it gives the user a mechanical advantage. I can easily close my 200 gripper but when took a reading on a dynometer it was only 155 lbs. Finally, an average orangutan is 7 times stronger than than an average human. The average grip of a human guy is 112 lbs. The average grip of an orangutan is 800 lbs. Any claim of a person with a grip of 1500 pounds is should be taken taken as a joke. 2

The average grip of an orangutan is 800 lbs. I wonder why an Orangutan is so much stronger than a human. Their hands don't look that much bigger. I am going by memory of the orangutan exhibit I took my sons to at the zoo. Orangutans seem much sweeter than Gorillas. Gorillas are always running around beating their chests actin a fool. I think Gorillas have much stronger hands though. They look like the pit bulls of the ape family, all brawn. Whereas Orangutans look like the Pillsbury dough boys of the Great Apes.

sillyanswer Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Do you guys here think its possible to close a gripper that takes 1500 lbs of pressure to close? No idea, but whenever you find a hand gripper that's "too easy" for you just try closing it between your thumb and ring finger or thumb and little finger and you'll find a whole new challenge. 1
Author King Bowls Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 Ever tried the Captains of Crush Grippers? Yep. On most good days I can close the 2.5 with my right hand. They are the real deal. I found a gripper made by I believe Warrenm Tetting called the "Hercules", it takes 2400 lbs to close and has a spring with a .565" diameter 1
TaraMaiden Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 They are much stronger than average humans No; They are much 'stronger' than ALL humans. You simply do not mess with a primate; power is not only measured by physical strength. It is also measured by agility and temperament. In any competition, between an Orang Utang/Gorilla, and a human - I will always bet on the primates. 2
Emilia Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 In any competition, between an Orang Utang/Gorilla, and a human - I will always bet on the primates. and chimps. They can do serious damage, they are pure muscle, agility, aggression and teeth 2
GorillaTheater Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I want to have a grip more powerful than that of even the biggest, most powerful, alpha male gorilla. Dream on, bub. 3
TaraMaiden Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I wonder why an Orangutan is so much stronger than a human. Their hands don't look that much bigger. I am going by memory of the orangutan exhibit I took my sons to at the zoo. Orangutans seem much sweeter than Gorillas. Gorillas are always running around beating their chests actin a fool. Then you're easily fooled.... Their arms are longer - they have an armspan of well over 6 feet, and have immense upper body strength. Also, there is so much more leverage. They're also extremely agile, and have prehensile feet, too... And male Orang Utangs can be exceptionally threatening and dangerous. they have been known to form attachments to human females and actually become too amorous. And when they become amorous, they also become exceptionally aggressive to interference. ....I think Gorillas have much stronger hands though. They look like the pit bulls of the ape family, all brawn. Whereas Orangutans look like the Pillsbury dough boys of the Great Apes. I wouldn't like to pit one against the other, to be honest. I think it would be a close-run thing. GENUS: Orang Utan Bornean orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus) are the third largest of the great apes after the Eastern and Western gorillas, and are about two/thirds their size. A male Bornean orangutan weighs about 90 kilograms and females weigh about 50 kilograms. Sumatran orangutans (Pongo abelii) are smaller, on average a male weighs about 80 kilograms, while females weigh about 40 kilograms. A dominant male orangutan weighs from 100 to 110 kilograms. The strength of an orangutan ranges from five to eight men in excellent physcal condition. The average strength of an orangutan is equal to seven men. GENUS: GORILLA Gorillas are the largest of the great apes. The largest gorilla species in the genus Gorilla is the Eastern gorilla (Gorilla beringei). Males weigh about 180 kilograms as adults, while females weigh 100 kilograms. In the smaller Western gorilla (Gorilla gorilla) males weigh about 160 kilograms, while females weigh about 90 kilograms. A silverback gorilla (leader of the troop) can weigh 225 kilograms. The strength of a silverback can range from ten to twelve adult men. The strength of a blackback gorilla is about nine to ten adult men. ...However, Orang Utans are more flexible, agile and much faster in their movements. Discussing the large primates, is one thing. For the OP to even imagine he would be able to pit himself in strength against either one, is frankly risible. 1
Author King Bowls Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 The claim of certian primates being 8-10 time stronger than humans is partially untrue. There are men on this planet 8-10 stronger than average adult men. If you don't believe me I'd gladly list them and what they're capable of. 1
Author King Bowls Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 No; They are much 'stronger' than ALL humans. You simply do not mess with a primate; power is not only measured by physical strength. It is also measured by agility and temperament. In any competition, between an Orang Utang/Gorilla, and a human - I will always bet on the primates. No, they are not. There are so many different motions (push, pull, squat) that saying that is just untrue. I will state my explanation why you're saying is untrue, and how primates have NEVER been truly tested strength wise, we just assume because of what they've done to weak humans who won't fight back in an attack. No chimp or gorilla has ever been put in a weight room. No chimp is "much stronger" than Benedikt Magnusson, Magnus Samuelsson, Zydrunas Savickas, Phil Pfister, Magnus Ver Magnusson, Mariusz Pudzianowski. Again, no chimp is "much stronger" if even stronger than any of those guys. Those guys are 8-10 stronger than average adult men. And when you say much stronger, stronger at what? Pushing? Pulling ? Squats / deadlifts? Stronger in what way? Just because a chimp can pull so much, many times than most men, doesn't mean they're "so much stronger" than everyone. Are you going to try to tell me that a 150 lb chimp could deadlift 1000 lbs raw? HELL NO!!!!! And Benedikt Magnusson, deadlifted 1015 raw!! A 150 lb chimp would fall over!!! No 150 pound person/primate could pull that off, It doesn't matter how strong your grip is. PLEASE read and think about my post. PLEASE do. 1
Author King Bowls Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 Dream on, bub. Ill dream big and lift hard while you sit on your ass and doubt me. Thanks for fuel. 1
Author King Bowls Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 It'll actually be a gripper that takes 2,400 lbs instead of 1,500 lbs. 1
Forever Learning Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Are you going to try to tell me that a 150 lb chimp could deadlift 1000 lbs raw? HELL NO!!!!! And Benedikt Magnusson, deadlifted 1015 raw!! I can smell your testosterone all the way from Southlake here to Houston. MMMMmmm, smells good hun. Let's talk primates some more. No wait, who's this Benedikt Magnusson fella you mentioned? That doesn't sound like a Texas name to me. I'll have to google him. I hope they have videos of him and his deadlifts on Youtube. I'll bet that's very fun to watch. Have you got any pics up yet in your album of you lifting or working the hand grippers? That would be nice too. 19 years old huh? Oh golly. :bunny: Tell us more about this hand gripper stuff. Does it develop your forearms when you work these hand grippers? Like, give you Popeye arms? That would be so cool too. 1
johan Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I'll be starting a pool. Whoever comes closest to guessing when we will end up seeing the "Oh My God I Tore Off My D**k!!!" thread wins. $5 to join. 4
Forever Learning Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Yes, King Bowls, do be careful with your precious and undoubtedly beautiful and mighty schlong. I don't ever want to see that thread around here. I would never wish that on a fellow Texan. Particularly not one as adorable and testosterone laden as you. Rock on with your bad self daddy!!!! :bunny: 1
TaraMaiden Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I have. It's laughable. First of all, nobody's been talking about chimps until you did. We've been focussing on the larger and most powerful primates - who would probably toss those weights around like matchsticks. And now YOU - have lowered the ante - and you're talking about chimps doing squats and beating all these magnusson guys....well, probably not. But put them against a gorilla, and they wouldn't stand a a rat's ass of a chance.
