I haven't posted on this site very often, but I've read some of your posts in the past, and you are very encouraging and genuine. It's obvious you care a great deal about people, and I appreciate that.

You mentioned the possibility of taking a break for a little while. Have you thought more about that? I think it might be worth trying. I had a game app on my phone a few months ago that was SO addicting. I found myself wasting so much time playing it, but I couldn't stop because I was determined to make it to the next level. I finally decided to delete the app altogether because I was tired to being so unproductive. I really missed it for a few days (maybe a week); but after about 2 weeks, I realized how much more productive I was. And I could actually spend time with my son without having one eye on him and one eye on the game I was playing. I know your situation is different because you aren't talking about a game - you're talking about people, relationships, and support. And I completely understand that. BUT, it might still be worth taking a short break and see how your home life is affected. It might be a positive change. But you won't know until you try.

I'm just curious if the app was "Candy Crush Saga." Because erm, I'm done all of the 395 current levels if that gives you a hint as to how hooked into things I get.

 

But I am sick today, otherwise I wouldn't be on at all. :sick:

I agree with your H that you need an Intervention.

However , I value your conversation and thoughts so much...I just dont want you to leave. Im terribly upset about another poster who has helped me tremendously having left as it is. And I realize this sadness as well as my post count highlights an issue of my own. XX

Kijiji is a good place for low-cost (or free!) replacement rugs.

 

And if you aren't too particular and the rug is the right shade of brown.... you might not have ruined it. You may have just authenticated it as your Territorial Rug. ;) Especially if it was one of those bathroom throw mats.

I think the conclusion should be something like a 3 month break, then reassess at that time. Forum will still be here in 3 months, you can keep your account and maybe find enjoyment in other things while you take a break.

Holy hell.

 

I did 90 before I decided it was a huge timesink and marketing scheme... getting you to buy those extra moves because you're sooooooooooo close to finishing that level! :laugh:

Sigh. I'm trying. As of yet H hasn't had a spare moment to try to re-do that partition timer thing, so I've just spliced LS into my studying and housework routine. I have to do XYZ before 0:00 or I don't have time to update a thread.

But even that has to change in the coming week. I've been doing a lot more kid/family time and have all but limited it when H and T are around at all. I'm surprised how fixated I got actually. I couldn't see it.:confused:

 

It worried me that I'll be 40, have a heart attack and they'll find me slumped over my laptop with a half-finished post:

I'll see how I'm doing on the timers.

 

I have a bunch of subscribed threads moving along so when I try to cut down I like to let them die out one by one and not replace them.

Of course it's a marketing scheme.

 

But that's what YouTube is for. You can get past the levels without paying.

I still got stuck on one for a month.

Then I replayed that level the next week.....got it on the first try. :mad:

 

I told myself I was just going to go to level 30 because I didn't need to get sucked into something else. :rolleyes:

 

Once I finished CCS my LS posting went through the roof.

I managed to get by that one okay. I remember it took awhile though. I have never gotten it again on a replay.

I don't think there is any need for drastic actions. You can limit your time on here to 30 mins a day or something reasonable. I reduced my time on here to making 2 posts a day max (not counting last few days :p).

 

I put that time into developing my home business, on the top of my regular job. I actually made $1000 last month just from using up my reduced time on LS to work on the business. I hope that June will go even better :bunny:

Isn't it so rewarding to put effort into your own business? I loved it. Even though I didn't like the work in and of itself, I absolutely loved reaping the results of my efforts. Huge for self-confidence!:)

 

I opted for 30 mins a day with the timer thing.

 

My husband actually set it for 20 mins every 3 hours. :)

 

But then windows seven wouldn't access the internet so he's going to finish out when he's done his course labs this weekend.
