She just an immature bully. Ignore her. It doesn't matter if she has spoken to other mums about you - some of them will believe her and some will think she's just stirring up trouble. You can bet there will be some mums there who would love to get talking to you and away from the bully characters. They are just not as obvious as the loud ones.

Sometimes in emergencies we don't think of the lesser things going on in our lives, especially lesser things that involve people with think lesser of. She did not have to justify her lack of communication to this woman, especially since the woman doesn't even like her. This woman had no right to demand anything from the OP IMO.

Ditto.

If a family crisis like hospitalization comes up, I may very well not think "Let me text about a random party." It may totally slip my mind. Although, as soon as things settled I'd try to reach out first to explain.

The woman is a biiiatch though. Even if I was annoyed that someone didn't make it to my event and didn't say anything, if when next I see them they told me their mom was sick, so it slipped their mind and they had to rush off, I'd immediately soften and understand. I would not continue to chastise them and say how I "told the other moms" and how I didn't believe them . Clearly some "mean girls" grow up to be "mean moms." Frankly, I'd have simply told her where to go and would have taken my kid elsewhere.
