Tragedi67
Howdy All, Well I'm taking a minute to ask you all your opinions on my situation. I'm 26 5'4 200lbs. and I'm considering getting liposuction done in the next six months. I have always had a problem with my weight and have been very unhappy about it wishing I could change and lose weight. Well I've done everything under the sun: personal training, nutrionist, taken phen-fen for a month, and now I'm trying relacore (that stuff they have a commercial on the tv for-says it's supposed to help with stubborn belly fat). All of these things I've done in the past 6 to 7 years. I work nights, and I find it hard to work out first thing after work (12hr shifts). I've been trying to get back into swimming more than once a week and eating low fat-low cal stuff when I can. The only thing that's been happening is I've neither gained or lost any weight. So I'm pretty excited about looking into getting lipo done so I will look better and feel better about my appearance. Yes I know it's not the way to go if you wanna lose weight, it's just to contour your body better. I'm aware of all the risks with it and I have an appointment with a surgeon on the 19th. It's a free consult so I don't have to make a surgery date right then and there. Many of the guys I've dated since my divorce this year say I look great which is all fine and dandy, but isn't all about how you feel about yourself? Well right now the only thing holding me back is the financial part of it. I have bad credit right now, about to file for bankruptcy so I cannot qualify for any type of loan. The company I work for is doing rather well and we may receive profit sharing next year, but it all depends on how the year ends overall. This would more than cover the amount the nurse says the doctor charges. So that is the only thing holding me back, I really want to do this for myself and I'm sure I'll be scared the day I have the surgery if it happens. If it doesn't happen because of the $ I'll probably be very disappointed that I couldn't. So what does everyone think? Anyone know someone who's had surgery before? Anything would be much appreciated.
cateinaus
Self acceptance is the best idea East to say. But really, I've seen some shocking jobs for lipo......and I'm sure you don't look near as bad as you feel you do. Probably if you felt better about who you are in other aspects of your life, this matter would become so minor that it wouldn't bother you anymore. Thought about studying....think about anything in the world that you would study/do if you thought it possible and then 'go 4 it'. Honestly, I think that would help a lot but it's just a thought
BK Girl
Why is it so important for you to be thin? I've suffered from eating/weight issues for the past 7 years of my life, trying every diet under the sun and working out like crazy. Nothing seemed to work. My weight wouldn't budge really..sometime it would go up or down a few pounds but definitely not the results that I was looking for. It really started to control my life and I lost a lot of valuble time obsessing over my weight when I could've been living . I started to wonder why it was so important for me to be thin and ended up really examing the issues that were in my life. Here is a site that I found extremely helpful and I hope you check it out: http://www.normaleating.com In short, I wouldn't opt for lipo unless it's an extreme case where your health is in danger due to your weight. honey2005
I agree with the others. Unless your weight is a major health hazard, I don't recommend lipo. I've heard lots of success stories, but I've also heard some horror stories about it, which kind of knock out the good ones.

zara
okay, you might not want to hear this but lipo is something that is only a temporary fix. You need to look at changing your diet and get serious about exercise. Otherwise you can have all the lipo in the world but in 12 months time you will find yourself back at square one becasue your lifestyle means that you are not looking after yourself properly and you will regain the weight. You say you "try to eat low-cal food where i can" - try isn't good enough. Get some advice about healthy eating and stick to it. Walk more, jog, do some weights, i understand that your job and irregualr hours make you tired but you'll have more energy the fitter you become. try to do 20 building to 30 minutes every day, even a few sit ups every evening when you are watching t.v. will help make a difference, and put that bonus into a good investment account. Chances are that if you get serious about diet and exercise you may find that you don't need the lipo and can spend it sorting out your finances.
