Are black women disadvantaged in the dating game?

Recommended Posts

Mulatto is not really offensive, but many people use the term biracial.

I don't understand the OP. I see black women celebrated everywhere. I don't see us being disadvantaged by anyone but our own race.

I absolutely agree.

So I know exactly what you mean about perceptions versus reality. This girl blew me away with her knowledge of classic jazz. Very cool.

Thats one of the most common ones, musical taste. Its hard to stop yourself from assuming people music interests. I like Indie music because is quite free and less comformist, less about looks than straight pop and r'n'b music. I love Red Hot Chillis and Nina Simone, people who are REALLY talented.:)

As I was talking about different types of people, I dont think I could go out with a guy who took someone like 50 cent seriously, whatever their colour. Its not my thing but I bet when people see me on the street they assume I listen to "urban music" only.

I cant be bothered by self pity. I actually find that if you are pretty or beautiful (like me, their words not mine!) guys look at you and enjoy talking to you whatever your colour.:o

I find that just as many white people as black find me attractive but I have quite a straight laced personality. I grew up with a load of middle class white people so the way I talk and act is kinda more in tune with them and is seen as more feminine than being ghetto for some reason. Even though im still black in my music choices and interests etc... I think if if I had more black mannerisms and was "more in with it" (which I have wanted at sometimes) then certain people who have looked at me never would have.

I think people are more "culturalist" than racist. They dont mind a woman of colour who isnt too black, see Beyonce, Halle Berry in there way of speaking and acting because its a different culture. Just like a black "in with it" person wouldnt want to hang around a posh white person but they wouldnt mind chillin' with Eminem or Justin Timberlake.

This is the best post in this entire thread!
