I Love food
I have a Major Problem. . . I'm 29, i'm not very overweight, maybe 8 or 9 lbs or so. Fairly thin frame. But i feel unhealthy and sluggish. I think that I eat WAY TOO MUCH. Way too much bad stuff too. When I say I eat too much I mean, I force too much down at meals to the point where I'm so uncomfortable, it even hurts. I just can't help it. I love to taste all my fave foods. It's like binging and purging, only I don't purge, Yet, Jokingly, I wish I could, so I Could Eat more and taste more. I just find sooo much enjoyment in eating, it's one of the things I look foward to. I have hobbies and goals, but I just love eating. I look foward to going out to eat with my girl or friends. If I know i'm going out that night, i'll binge in the morning strategically so i won't have to eat all day til i can pig out at dinner. What can I do. I've tried dieting, Tried staying away from the wrong foods cuz i use way too much salt, drink way too much soda, eat way too many fatty foods. There is diabetes in my family and heart disease. I know i'm headed for problems down the road. I just can't stop. I hate eating healthy, hate it. It's not fun. People laught at me when I say i eat too much and that i feel unhealthy because, i'm not chubby at all. they say i have no meat on my bones, if they only knew. is this a psychological thing? or am i just a freak? It worries me.
Merin
You're worried with good reason... this isn't healthy. You seem to have an addiction/obsession with food.. (even looking at the name you chose to post under) It could be that you use this addiction as comfort.. or as a way to have some control in your life (as you are the one who chooses and has control over what you're putting into your body) Obviously there are some things that are just not good for you or healthy to indulge in... however if you eat in moderation and excersize there shouldn't be a problem with what you're eating.. However, from what you've said the issue isn't so much in just what your eating... it is in your thought process of why you feel the need to consume food the way you do. Please seek medical attention.
Mr Spock
Your metabolism is going to start slowing down mid to late thirties and your eating habits are going to catch up with you horribly. Many men don't experience eating poorly=fat until much later on, whereas women tend to experience it earlier. This scientific fact was pulled out of my arse, so don't bother asking for links. You should try portion control dude. SMALL amounts of a lot of the food you love.
Jozer
Sounds like you have an eating disorder. The actual psychiatric definitions of anorexia and bulimia (sp?) are not what the public at large believes. Anorexics may purge as well, and Bulimics do not necessarily purge. What differentiates the two is body size (Anorexics are unhealthily thin and Bulimics range from average weight to overweight). By your description of focusing your entire life around food and binging, it sounds like you may be suffering from Bulimia. I would encourage you to seek medical attention and therapy for this. It won't just go away on it's own. But with the proper help, you could lead a much healthier and happier life. Good Luck!!!
goodnbad
There is a newer definition of what you are describing. I suffer from it myself and it took many years to find the true diagnosis. It is called BID---"binge-eating disorder". A lot of docs do not yet recognize this as an actual disorder, but it is legit. Sadly, many so-called professionals (such as my own doc) will tell you that if you you overeat a lot and don't actually throw up, you just need more willpower to stop eating. DO NOT believe this! It is not true. It IS an eating disorder. Your best bet is to do some searches on the subject to find out more. Good luck and best wishes in getting help! goodnbad
catindahat
hey, so.... eating too much? Well for your normal day of binging and no purging. Count how much your eating. As an example say you're eating potatoe chip, count how many have been put into your mouth and write down that number so yo don't forget. For foods like creal, count how many spoonfuls you eat. For everyday you binge, take off i counting, so like if you ate 35 potatoe chips yesterday, today only eat 34, and then tomorrow eat 33. So then your body and brain will be able to cope with you decrease in food. For soda. Every can you drink, wash out with water and then fill with water so after every can of soda you drink, drink one can of water afterwards. Maybe you have a fast metabolism, so you digest pretty fast and don't gain the weight, if you're losing a lot of weight go to your doctor. I don't think a counsilor will help, they'll probably just tell you you're eating so much because of depression, but i don't think you're depressed just maybe a little bit obsessive of eating.
