Eternal Sunshine Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I am wondering which of these two is better for toning/improving strength?
Feelin Frisky Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Yoga lets Satan in. Pilates lets Carlos Santana. 1
Babolat Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I just started doing Yoga and love it. I do a Fitness Yoga. I did Pilates oncesa few years ago, was not my thing.
brocktrent Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I will go with yoga specially the power yoga which helped me to loose weight and gain a natural beauty.
BradJacobs Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I would think either one would be beneficial provided you are pairing it with other routines. I do yoga, gym workouts and I run every week. Couldn't see myself giving up yoga in that scenario but then again I couldn't see myself giving up any of the three types of activities that I do. They all help and for different reasons.
Negative Nancy Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Some people swear on bikram yoga. Personally, I just do old school callanetics.
Author Eternal Sunshine Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 I settled on yoga because I already do weight training. I also wasn't really connecting with pilates. I like to have yoga sessions after doing weights because it feels good to stretch And the breathing/meditation aspect helps too. 3
2sure Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I do bikram yoga three times a week and run the other days. I need strength training because I'm older...but I hate lifting weights. I've never taken Pilates ...but I'm thinking about trying it. Would that be as good for strength training.

It's probably better than yoga. It seemed harder to me, in terms of how much muscles work. Although the first day I did yoga, I was feeling sore in muscles I didn't even know I had
Emilia Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I've tried iyengar yoga now a couple of times and I highly recommend it Iyengar Yoga - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Very good for posture and correct body alignment, especially if you do strength training. 1

lisarose001 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Hi, As per me Yoga is bet for improving strength.
Emilia Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 but especially yoga is to let you open your mind to the dark side of the spiritual world so he( the devil) can have access to your spirit. 1
joe86 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I saw an article today on a running site about yoga helping runners. I suppose that's with the flexibility it gives. I imagined it might be something I can do when I get home after a run as you don't seem to need a lot of space. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to start? Maybe YouTube?
