Moose
I've always had bags under my eyes. I know there has to be a trick out there to fix that! I get plenty of sleep, and my job is nowhere near stressful. Any tricks?
Barby
Tried using chilled cucumber slices on your eyes? I have them too but mine is inherited from my father, nothing will rid me of these suckers! But I've heard that using cold cucumber slices on your eyes at night helps relieve the "puffiness" and dark circles.
Dakini
Besides plastic surgery, you can try an anti-hemorrhoid ointment applied under your eyes. Seriously. All the anti-hemorrhoid agent does is decrease edema and thus swelling, which is what's going on under your eyes. Models use this trick.
Dakini
Moose - I forgot one thing: Do you have sinus problems? If so, this may be contributing to the bags and swelling. Try a decongestant. Oh - and the cucumbers actually work through osmosis.
Author Moose
Nope, no sinus probs.....works through osmosis, can you elaborate?
Sukotto
how about concealer?

findinmyway
I have really dark circles and some baggage. Mostly inherited, but also from sinuses. The only thing I have found for puffiness (besides concealer) is anti-hemarroid ointment. Gotta be careful with this though, don't get it in the eyes. Burns! Since you prob don't want to use concealer....there's some creams to reduce dark circles. That's hit and miss though.
whichwayisup
It could be hereditory and run in your family? Could be not enough sleep, stress and ofcourse not enough sunlight. I find my bags are't as big (yeah I know how that sounds, so all of you get yer filthy minds outta there! LOL) in the summer because of the sunlight. In the winter they are bad. I am looking into getting a SAD light visor! They are supposed to be incredible and so much better than the light on the stand!
Dakini
Originally posted by Moose Nope, no sinus probs.....works through osmosis, can you elaborate? In "theory" it should work, but the skin is not a very penetrable barrier - so the cucumber under the eye thing is probably only good because of the coldness aspect. But, In theory, water should move from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration to reach equilibrium. The thinking is that the cucumber is the area of lower concentration. However, thinking about this more, I think that the cucumber thing might be a load of crap. However, the hemorrhoid thing is actually scientific. Too bad Pap isn't here. I am sure he could explain it alot better than I....

Butchey
Plastic surgery is the best bet. They can remove the "fat pads" so you don't have bags. The only dowside besides finding a good FACS, is that they may come back after time.

gwennebe
Potatoes always works for me. Just slice a potatoe in two big pieces or a bunch of small slices and let them set on your eyes for at least 10 minutes. I'm not crazy I swear it works.

moimeme
You can also try warm compresses under your eyes for 30 seconds a few times a day. My dermatologist said that the bags are caused by fluid buildup due to problems with the veins below closing. The warmth opens up the veins (or capillaries or whatever's hanging out under there) and allows the fluid to drain off. Works better than cold because the cold just makes the underlying blood vessels close tighter.
NatoPMT
I have used anti-hemorrhoid cream on puffiness and it works, definitely, I havent noticed it reducing my dark circles. If you have been up all night crying about boys and your eyes puff up it gets rid of it really well by reducing congestion in the veins. I have only had actual eye bags for a year and havent tried it since I aquired them, I try not to use it too much… I don't suppose it would hurt to use it regularly??? I have read/heard that it thins the skin - and thin skin is effectively old skin. I can’t remember where I read this but I think the cream contains steriods which might be the reason. It should only be used as a quick fix when desperate so I am going to try Merry’s suggestion. I think these options only work if the bags are caused by fluid retention or congestion, if the bags are there simply because of ageing due to gravity and fat deposits then there’s only one option. Surgery. Some people also suffer an allergic reaction to H-cream so be careful Too much salt causes your body to retain fluid and this can make bags worse The best concealer to use on dark circles is yellow toned – it counters the blue/purple.
