Sun Devil
Lets say you meet a guy who has a great personality, good job, and not ugly. Later after dating for a whole you find out the he used escorts in the past. He did not do it while in any relationships, just when he was single. He has been tested and is clean. Would you overlook his past?
mesmerized
I would need to know more details. That being said, why would you want to share that with women in your future?

sweetheart5381
Hell no. No way. A man that will pay for sex is a man that will use a woman's body for sexual purposes only. He doesn't consider women to be of any emotional/human value at all. Heck, he doesn't mind sleeping with someone else's leftover cum and therefore doesn't value himself. Hell, he has a hand if all else fails. If a man told me he ever used a prostitute then it signals to me that he values his sexual needs over a woman's need for self-respect. He devalues himself in the process. Sure a woman may offer it up for cash, but men by nature make more money. Women in the sex trade are there because they are either drug addicts in need of therapy or so damn broke they can't care for their kids. Usually the first reason but sometimes the second. Prostitution is gross and it destroys the intimacy that sex was intended for. I am an atheist btw, and find prostitution to be utterly disgusting.

sweetheart5381
Um... no. There are plenty of women in the sex trade who like it. Lol... like the 3 hookers that were brutally raped in my neighbourhood this month. Dude is in jail now, thank goodness. He put them in the hospital, multiple wounds and fractures, a bad John. Welcome to being a sex trade worker. Rape happens every day to them. Do not speak of what you dont know.
runningfar
Lets say you meet a guy who has a great personality, good job, and not ugly. Later after dating for a whole you find out the he used escorts in the past. He did not do it while in any relationships, just when he was single. He has been tested and is clean. Would you overlook his past? This would depend on his outlook on it currently. Did he feel like it was something he would do again in a similar situation or was it a mistake? I believe the past is the past and would never judge a woman for being an escort nor a man for using escorts BUT I have serious issues with that industry. I think it is exploitive of young girls who don't know better even at the best of it, especially in the illegal atmosphere of the US. So, if he currently considered it an option or did not show any insight, it would not be okay.

runningfar
That's a pretty broad assumption to make, don't you think? For every story I hear like this, I hear another story of a woman who got into the sex trade and absolutely loves it. I live in a country where the sex industry is legal. I even met a prostitute at a party once. She had some stories! But she loves her job. I met a stripper once too. Also some interesting stories. And some expensive shoes! You could try not being so rude next time. I know several women who were "escorts" when they were younger. We had gone to high school together and they had tried to "recruit" me at the time. One escaped relatively without scars, though she hid it from her now-husband so I would say she's vulnerable. The others justified it at the time, but now carry serious scars. One still cries about it almost a decade later. Granted, I know it being illegal changes it and the ongoing repercussions of it here, but it's more than that. Maybe if it were legal they could do mental health preemployment screening, and stop the abuse that happens to these girls, even if they justify it at the time as being less invasive than minimum wage being demeaned by your employer work. It scars something deeper.

sweetheart5381
Um... no. There are plenty of women in the sex trade who like it. You really don't understand prostitution. To prostitute oneself is to debase oneself. To completely disintegrate your own self-respect for your own self's needs. Humans only do this when they are forced to, because other basic needs cannot be met, like physical or psychological well being. It isn't fun to be raped, and while some women will say it's fun, "it's just sex", it really isn't. It's disgusting. It has nothing to do with a woman's right to her body, it's about her respect for her body.
SJC2008
OP most people are so ashamed if their sexual history they won't ask you yours so unless you're a one minute man don't worry about it.

ThaWholigan
Why does everybody assume that a woman cannot be an escort of her own accord and actually like it? Not saying it's common or that I'm completely for prostitution or advocate it as a career, but lets not tar everything with the same brush. I actually used to know a couple of them as acquaintances and they were both fine. The 2 escorts that posted here also for all intents and purposes were perfectly normal individuals.

You could try not being so rude next time. Ya, I know several strippers and hookers too, very close friends. They are in danger all the time. All depends on where you live. And if its illegal, its pretty damn dangerous. Ya women can get into it for the nice shoes, but the bottom line is that they suffer.
ThaWholigan
I read a magazine article the other day interviewing 4 women who worked in the sex industry here. One of them was even married. Not surprised. Saying that, nobody is ignoring how f*cked up the industry is, but I find it a little bit silly to claim that any woman's participation in the entire industry is an exercise in self-disrespect. I'm sure that there is at least a small percentage who are happy to be there, no matter how disgusting I or anyone else would think it is.

It's so hard for me to believe that there are prostitutes who LOVE their jobs, unless all their clients are attractive men. Reality is, their clients are usually the worst in terms of attractiveness or many other things. Unless a woman is very selective about her clients and is getting paid a lot of money, I just can't imagine a woman loving this thing. But I guess it's possible.
