sweetheart5381
They whom you have described, suffer. Where it's legal, where they have protection, where they have designated buildings with security and monitoring and governments regulating the industry, those participants have it completely different. It's why prostitution should be legalised everywhere. Trying to curb it does nothing. At least if it's regulated, the girls stand a better chance of being protected. Problems will still occur, but far fewer. No, prostitution should not be legalized. Women, for the large part will be drawn to it as a means of income. Who wants to sell their body? The one thing that is sacred in a loving romantic relationship?? That's my point here folks. Women that sell their sexual self to a stranger for 10 bucks or a million bucks devalues themselves. Why would any man want that? Why would I want to be with a man that would be ok with a woman doing that and paying her to do that?
ThaWholigan
It's so hard for me to believe that there are prostitutes who LOVE their jobs, unless all their clients are attractive men. Reality is, their clients are usually the worst in terms of attractiveness or many other things. Unless a woman is very selective about her clients and is getting paid a lot of money, I just can't imagine a woman loving this thing. But I guess it's possible. They may not LOVE their job - I imagine that's an even smaller number . But there are those who range from content to happy. The ones who are such tend to be selective of their clients though - usually it is the ones who offer services beyond sex (like company amongst other things, or GFE). And from what I know about johns, they are a broad spectrum - indeed including the worst as you put it.

They may not love it, but lets face it...The economy is still struggling...If I was of low skills and could make more in one day than I could in a month stocking the shelves at Wal Mart then I might consider it..Some people will do anything to feed their families and keep a roof over their heads..Thaank God, no one in my family would ever need to face a crisis like that.. Is it right? I cant say...I dont patronize the Prostitution trade but I wont judge it either.. TFY

KathyM
Um... no. There are plenty of women in the sex trade who like it. Um, no. 99% of prostitutes want to get out of the business as quickly as possible because they hate it.
KathyM
Lets say you meet a guy who has a great personality, good job, and not ugly. Later after dating for a whole you find out the he used escorts in the past. He did not do it while in any relationships, just when he was single. He has been tested and is clean. Would you overlook his past? No. Using prostitutes shows lack of character and lack of respect for women. And also lack of concern for his own sexual health.
KathyM
Where the hell is 99% coming from?! I've done a lot of research on the subject. Surveys of prostitutes show that 99% want to leave the business as quickly as possible.
ThaWholigan
Ya, I call that propaganda. Selling your body for sex is the sex trade and it hurts the soul. My man would never want me if I serviced other men... I mean, he would never feel special then, he is like a number then. I would feel the same too. Sure, he has had sex, has a history, but he didnt buy it, he had sex in relationships that didnt work. I can respect that. I cant respect buying sex... and my man certainly would never respect me if I did the same. Hell I could never respect myself, I would never expect him to either. It doesn't hurt everyones soul. bluegreen
Sex is easiest thing to get in these times I fail to see how he did not manage that in regular way. Guy is either perverted has some ill fetish or as someone said does not even see woman as actual human beings just piece of meat he had chance and means to pay for. In his place instead of even uttering this I would have shut my mouth and never opened it about this but as they say what is wise one ashamed of fool toots and brags about it. The majority of prostitutes can't afford to be like that about who they see however. Women are more selective by nature when it comes to who they want to have sex with. Usually there needs to be some mental connection present and if not a high amount of physical attraction. None of these two really exist when you have sex with someone who is desperate enough to pay you for sex.
SJC2008
Prostitution is gross and it destroys the intimacy that sex was intended for. I am an atheist btw, and find prostitution to be utterly disgusting. Here's a lil something from your FWB thread: We both talked about it and agreed back in November that having sex was not for the best atm. In his words, he stated that he didn't like that I was "disappointed" when he couldn't see me (I was a bitch about it, assuming he was just playing me) and he felt bad when he didn't deliver, so to speak. We stopped having sex immediately but were still great friends. I respected what he told me and understand now that I put him under a fair bit of pressure. He has since taken the lead and wanted us to hang out. He made all the moves, I just went with the flow last weekend and yes we had sex. Not like before (hooking up). He made my dog at home, gave her pillows and just assumed we would stay together for the night. We actually had sex AND slept together. We've been flirty and friendly the last few months, but I didn't expect such a change in him. We exchange long looks now. He makes his presence known to other predator males and makes it clear that he is a part of my life and will interrupt other males that are chatting with me just to make it clear (in a completely innocent way of course). He tells me where he is going and stuff... its just really odd. Still confused!. Oh so you were "hooking up" huh? What's the difference between that and paying? Some pepole don't have options so they pay to "hook up". Destroys the initmacy lol!
ThaWholigan
I read see and hear about 14 year old that do and get bit sick about it. Trust me buddy this thing is not about not knowing Yes, it is. You have obviously never seen an inexperienced man in action. This is part of the reason why they have problems - people don't believe them and then act like they're broken . Fortunately, I know not everyone thinks like that otherwise I'd have had an even harder time getting laid! And yeah, I did consider paying once (even made a thread about it) but it never appealed to me.

ThaWholigan
Honey, I'm gonna guess you at 25, perhaps 30. You don't have kids yet, obviously and you are still figuring life out. I have 3 kids, 2 teens and a pre-teen. I have seen a very hard life, one that I bet you cannot image. I've been brutally raped twice. I learned a lot from those experiences. I've gone thru more **** than you can possibly imagine. You can call me biased, but when a man forced himself into me, believing he had every right, since he bought me a drink... He felt that I should honour him since he paid for my drink. Men believe in prostitution when they don't respect women. Have you been forcefully raped? Do you understand yet? I'm very sorry to read that this happened to you, and one would be a heartless and heinous individual to make light of that. I have 2 questions: 1 - do you believe in exceptions to the rule? 2 - do you believe that every single john/potential john is a potential rapist/misogynist? And that every prostitute/escort is an unwilling participant?
SJC2008
you really don't see the difference between two people attracted to each other having sex and exchanging of money for sex?? Nice deflection, of course I do. Did you notice that I had the word intimacy bolded? She says sex is intimate to her than has a thread where she's having causal sex and where she started to pull away of fear of getting close, the exact opposite of intimacy. I'm not judging her for having casual sex, I have had casual sex too. Just don't say sex is about intimacy when you have a thread to the contrary.

SJC2008
The difference is that man you are talking about is my friend. We talk daily and care deeply for one another. That was uncalled for, dredging up ****. Am in a new relationship now and that man and I can't be together for reasons that are personal. Dont make me feel like a slut for loving a man. That's not prostitution. That's love. Your post was uncalled for. Am leaving LS. Later folks. I'm not making you feel like a slut or judging you for having casual sex. I have had casual sex too. But I don't go around preaching that sex is all about intimacy. I have said here numerous times that I have had causal sex but would rather have sex in a relationship with someone I care about. I called you out because you said sex is about intimacy and you have a fwb thread where you say you didn't want to get close. That's not intimacy, that's the exact opposite. How was it uncalled for? You made a statement and I wanted to see if it was congruent with your posts and guess what? It wasn't.
KathyM
Agreed. It's aweful. Sucking a stranger's dick for a few bucks???... Soooo demoralizing. Gross. Demoralizing, yes. I know a former prostitute who now has throat cancer from giving oral sex to strangers.
ThaWholigan
I'm afraid the thread is being derailed... Yes, indeed it is every time one mentions escorts - OP aside (who says some really retarded things at times), what he is is an inexperienced man. And when these threads pop up, people never take that detail into account or empathise as to why one might actually consider the idea. Not everyone gets the easy route to relationships, dates and sex. Some guys, like myself, are or were awkward as f-ck and don't know how to talk to girls. I got better at it. Give the advice, but don't castigate him for thinking about it. (Not Sun Devil though, dude talks about some violent sh-t)
SJC2008
I have PTSD, go look it up. Its incredibly hard to get close to anyone, because most folks like to hurt others. I was raped twice, my daughter's father hit me, threatened my kids, burned me literally and tried to kill me. I got over it. It's pretty hard to get intimate with anyone, but I have. In fact, I trusted the folks on this board to not attack me. I was wrong. I have an opinion about prostitution... that has nothing to do with the fact that I fell in love with a man that just wanted to **** me and left me. It's pretty ****ty to be reminded of that by this post. LS sucks. Not worth crying about. Listen I'm not dragging you through the mud you don't understand where I'm coming from. You told the OP sex is this great intimate act and you have a thread where that proves otherwise. I'm not juding you at all for hooking up, it's your business. But don't say x and do y is my point. I've had a rough life too so I do sympathize with you. Feel free to check my threads. I apologize for offending you, it wasn't my intention.
therhythm
The sterotypical assumption made about a lot of female workers in the sex trade is that they have daddy issues or had an "Uncle Bad Touch" in their pasts. And for the most part, there's definitely truth in that stereotype. For anyone to assume that the clear majority of sex workers "enjoy" their jobs - whether it's legal or not where they live - is probably a bit optimistic. To assume that most accountants enjoy their job is probably as optimistic... A job is a job...else would be a hobby right?
therhythm
If you think for one minute that there ISN'T any self-promotion - or the desire to grow their customer base - by writing blogs and magazine articles, you'd be wrong. That's just common business sense. As a former (male) escort I can tell you that there are many women and men in the profession who enjoy (or at least don't hate) the job. The question when it comes to prostitution is ...who are you talking about? The woman who works in the streets and sleep with 10 old farts or ugly truckers in a night for 40$ service or the woman who sleeps with three or four men a week for 1000$ per night? There is a huge difference between the two women described above.
therhythm
You were a former escort? You would be fun at a dinner party. You'd have good stories. :-) I was never invited for a diner to tell stories If you want to know something about my story you can look in this thread.
