OK....so in the world of OLD, and in the real world...I have been witness to many, many women mention how they "love riding on motorcycles, boats, jet skis, jeeps, etc, etc.

Yet almost none of these women have any of these things themselves. Why do so many women rely on the guy to have these toys?

If I liked jet-skiing, and had no jet-ski...would I just sit around twiddling my thumbs...hoping to find a woman that had a jet-ski??

Why do so many women deem it important enough to mention it, and comment how they like guys that have those toys....but its not important enough for them to have the toy themselves?

Is the whole rush more about the guy taking them for the ride more than them actually having an interest in the actual object itself?

I think it's more to create the perception that they are "fun," i.e. it's cool to like these things and it makes you stand out amongst all the other profiles which state this. It's just like people saying they love hiking and camping. It's cool to like hiking, and people who hate it will often mention it in their profile just because it's so cool to like hiking. It's simply creating interests out of thin air just to appear less vapid and unremarkable.

Plenty of men are like this guy (cut and pasted, spelling and format NOT corrected):

I LIVE LIFE TO THE FULL. I OWN OVERSEAS PROPERTY (CYPRUS) WITH OWN SWIMMING POOL & SPEND A LOT OF THE SUMMER IN MY FULLY AIR CONDITIONED VILLA AND THE WINTERS IN SCOTLAND.

I love good food in Michelin stared restaurants. I am a member of two prestigious clubs in Edinburgh and St Andrews.

I play golf and am passionate about rugby having played at a very high level. Sport is a very important part of my life as are my children and grandchildren (5)

Life must be exiting.

He will be exiting life soon as he is in his seventies. He must be suffering from dementia because he is spending winters in Scotland when he has a villa in Cyprus.

I always figured that was an allusion to sex....

But seriously, I do love riding motorcycles, sailing, even flying in engine-less aircraft.....

Jet Skis and boats are fun as hell. Whenever we get the chance we take ours out into the ocean.

The motorcycling is the only thing I've done on that list...

And sex.

I have ridden a motorcycle but I have never fired a weapon and have no desire to. The NRA culture has sort of soured me on that.

Does that mean that you won't date a guy unless he owns a gun? According to the OP that is true.

I am in Italy...my only options would be mobsters.

I don't think you want to date the typical American gun owner unless Ted Nugent is your ideal man.

Or the Pope?

Hmmm, mobsters and a man who protects child molesters....choices choices....

He's sounding much better than my options overseas....

Contrary to popular conception, automatic weapons, when operated correctly, aren't really fired in a continuous spray like in movies and TV (i.e., neh-neh-neh-neh-neh-neh-neh-neh). More than a few seconds of that and you'll have a jammed weapon from the barrel getting too hot.

That being said, yes, it's surely an enjoyable experience.

There are a lot of things I like but I don't like doing them alone. So I'm not going to spend a lot of money on it. A lot of guys will do things alone and will spend the bucks on the toys.

OTOH some people just want a free ride or think jet skiing looks like fun but haven't tried it themselves and hope to find 1. A guy that likes the activity and will teach them, and 2. They hope they WILL like it once they've tried it.

There are a lot of things I love to do yet can't afford.

It's sharing something they enjoy in the hopes they find a man who enjoys them too. It doesn't mean he has to have jet skiis, it just means it would be a nice perk.

Maybe money isn't that big a deal to some anymore and all they want is to have travel buddies they can enjoy travelling with. Who wants to do things on their own all the time specially if your not looking for a permanent relationship? Some guys like to share, nothing wrong with that.

I don't rely on guys to have these toys, I simply hire them. Why would anyone bother owning a jetski and have the hassle and expense of buying a vehicle that is able to transport it? I do various forms of sailing from wind surfing to yacht sailing. If I owned every piece of equipment required not only would it cost me $$$$ to buy and maitain them but would also need some serious storage space.

I'm sure people list things they have only tried once but if you only do off-road driving, sailing, etc 3-4 times a year you would be crazy to invest so much in gear that rapidly loses its value.

But then this comes from a woman who actually does these things ;)

I didn't realise hiking was cool. I love it but I thought it was for oldies. I mean it usually involves owning walking boots and an anorak.

Really? I hate weapons... why someone would like something made with the only purpose of killing things?
