beautifulearth83
Also concerning facebook, I would like to say that if the movie is true, and he started the whole thing because he was mad at his girlfriend, and was all sketchy about it, of course it's going to cause problems, no matter how much they polish it up, that will always be the root of it and what it stems from. So that would explain all the relationship issues. It wasn't born out of something to bring people closer or make the world a better place. It was made in an exploitive way, and somebody decided they could make some money on it. So it sets a bad example for other social networks, and it is a terrible replacement and even supplement for real life. It isn't like the telephone, where it's part of the times and eventually you're probably going to give in to getting one. It's a choice and not a hard choice to make. And you don't lose much by getting rid of it. It feeds on our temptations. Who's mind wouldn't want a place to do pretty much whatever it wants and have themselves be heard by friends, without actually having to be around them? On many levels it is not good for people, but perhaps there are a lot of people out there who are already in the shallow end. Some argue that there are advantages to it. Sure, maybe but if anything we would need to find a way to extract those elements and turn them into something all the people would want. It's not exactly fair to magically centralize the internet and say this is what you get and this is where you'll keep in touch. Maybe I don't want a blue page, or people to like things, etc. And liking things does nothing. People out there will do a lot to get some likes. But they don't mean anything, and they lead to nothing. These things are only making people feel like they're making progress. The trick is that they finally found a product (social media + cell phones, etc.") that basically try to mirror you and your loved ones, then sell it all back to you. I personally don't have to attention span for it all, and I'm way to obsessive to not post something every 5 seconds or feel the need to take a picture, share it and check for likes. It's just another thing adding noise to the world, and it's just another business. It's just as much an epedemic as the war on drugs, and I wouldn't be surprised if it just started causing more trouble. We just don't value the right things in this life. And we have little respect for ourselves. I'm glad to see so many people on here who are focused on other things. Also, there seems to be a lot of focus on what people think, their opinions, knowing this or that, critiquing things, judges on music shows, etc. It is all mind-based, and I don't like what it's doing to people. I'm not so sure that I really want to know what everybody thinks. I just miss real life. And I hope that people snap out of it.
