El Brujo
Occasionally, interesting things appear in my inbox... Yesterday, it got a little bit cooler in Hell. I got an e-mail informing me that a local guy started a meetup group for celibate singles. Like it or not, I checked it out and it's getting a LOT of people joining---fast. I won't give you the url, but to me this is proof there are people chipping away at the "no sex = baaaaad" mentality...
Philosoraptor
To each their own. If being celibate makes someone happy I can't knock them for it. At least if a couple meets in this group they at least have that in common.
pcplod
Do you really want to stop him? I would like to think that you don't. Look, as a personal choice, it is one that I can tolerate, even if I don't understand it, want to understand it, or want to give it any credence. As long as it stays within a remit of explicitly personal choice, I have no particular issue with it. However, once it starts a proselytizing process, trying to tell other people that they are wrong and that he/she/it is right, then that is when I go on the warpath. And there is no doubt people will join such groups even though it is not really what they want, that they are likely to change their minds, likely to cause confusion and grief for those who are very certain. Look on it another way. If these people attach to one another, no matter what their motivations then that is one less such person witlessly or deliberately choosing to make some other sexually intimate, tactile being's life absolute hell.
