Emilia Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 It's annoying. One girl in the office is like that and we don't understand why. Others just get into the high pitched voice thing when they hang out in group and the pitch gets higher and higher as they get more excited. My voice is relatively low so I lower it more to bring the pitch down a bit, that tends to work.

ascendotum Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I had a gf a few yrs back that talked a bit like this on occasions (when she was in a playful mood or down in confidence). I know it annoyed a few other women but I found it endearing actually. I think the main reason was I worked with professional women (auditors, accountants, lawyers, engineers, business analysts, software testers, etc) and many were very business like, so it was the contrast & girlyness that appealed to me. Hardly thought it was pandemic though.
Radu Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 A couple of yrs ago i was reading a movie review online, and one poster mentioned how the female character's voice would become slightly higher-pitched when she was around her man, while lowering when around her friends and family. It's a protection thing, higher pitched voices appeal more on a subconscious level to men. It's something that ppl do without realizing. This new fad is an attempt by some of them to appear even more vulnerable. It is incredibly annoying.

I know far too many people who say "supposebly" rather than "supposedly." I hate it. It's usually the people who think they're wicked smart that do it, too. Ugh. Such a turn off.

RedRobin Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Yea... It's all backwards. 12 year old girls dress up like strippers these days... ... and grown women rip out all (or most) of their pubic hair and talk in baby talk so that they come across as 12 year olds. (shaking head)
