Kid's Bus Driver is in huge trouble!!

Recommended Posts

My kids, all of them, have been written up several times recently. I've heard rumors from the neighbor kids about her telling them that they couldn't talk at all or they'd be written up, she screams at the kids, and gives one girl cigarettes from time to time.

My kids aren't saints, but when they're told to do something, they do it. My 15 year old is suspended off the bus until Jan. 4th!!

Has anyone ever went through procedures to file a complaint on their kid's bus driver?

No, but maybe you should start with contacting the school. But now that I think of it, aren't they an independent agency?

I would immeadiatly call the schools department of transportation and speak with a supervisor and let them know you are taking it up with the school Board

A quick Google search turned up a few things, but procedures are going to vary by school districts. You should definitely contact the school to understand what their procedures are. Although the buses and bus drivers are probably a contracted entity, it would be up to the school district to lay out school bus discipline policy. Try a Google search on:

school bus discipline policy (you'll get an idea of general policies at other schools.

school bus suspension rights

school bus rider rights

good luck

My bus driver is evil and people file complaints on him all the time. I think they call the director of transpertation or something like that.

My cousin's bus driver is pretty bad, too. One time her little nephew got sick on the bus (he's in kindergarden) and luckily he made it to the trashcan in time. Then the bus driver had him take the trash can home with him to have his mom clean out?! I was like WTF?! His mom called and complained and the man in charge told his mom to just throw it away, which is what I would have done as soon as my kid told me the bus driver told him to take it home to clean it out .

UPDATE:

Just so you all know that you can do this too.

Each district has a supervisor, some supervisors have several districts. This person isn't over the School board or the transportation for the School, BUT, they can act as liason if I don't get the information I request.

I called the School Super, and asked for the amount of, "Write ups", from each bus to see if this driver wrote up more kids than the others. He refused. So I called the district supervisor and he told me that I had the right to request and get those numbers. He reminded me that no names could be used, but it's within my rights as a parent to know how many write ups each bus had, and which bus is which.

So I put a letter together, faxed it and copied it to the supervisor. I'm waiting to see if the Super declines again, if he does, the supervisor will call and remind the School that I can take legal action if I don't get what I requested.

We'll see......
