I want be comfortable meeting new women

Recommended Posts

I have come to realize I am not very good at talking to women. Almost all of the relationships I have had are because women have initiated and then pursued me and eventually I ended up liking them. This is not how I want to continue and is probably why I always end up making the women I am with feel insecure. Actually I struggle to meet any new people. I have been told that I am not very friendly. I am genuinely nice and do care about others, I just don’t say much so I think people assume the worst. I do have some friends but I want to make more. The friends I do have are all guys and we get along well. When their friends are around (both male and female) I get along with them well too but it is rare that they become my friends separately.

About the only thing I do regularly in a social environment is go to the gym and I see a lot of the same people. I see a woman I would like to talk to. I even thought about some things I’d like to say and ask her, but I keep talking myself out of it. Is there really a huge consequence for me to go say hi to her? This is the only way I think I can break out of my personality of not being comfortable approaching people and especially women I find attractive. Is there an easier way to tackle this obstacle of mine? Maybe books I should read or something like that?

I was reading The Tao of Badass by Joshua Pellicer and found it to be interesting. I'm not sure if the forum is going to bleep that word, but you can look it up in google.

On some levels I found the book to be silly, but you may gain some insight.

Here is the table of contents:
