dichotomy
I mentioned this before in one of my posts, but I gave up straight deads and squats due to repeated lower back injuries. Being taller/long limbed, and older, I think added to my issues with conventional squats and deads. I am slowing adding weight to this new exercise, and I am feeling the results. Link below covers trap/hex deadlifts pretty well. I am using the deficit deads - I built a platform so I can get thighs to parallel on down making it a definite substitute for squats as well. tman666
For as "functionally" well equipped that my gym is, we don't have a trap deadlift bar. I do like deficit deads though. I generally use no more than a 3" deficit, but it's enough to really force me to activate my quads/glutes off of the floor. Another way to do them is simply to use smaller plates on the bar, or to use a snatch grip on a straight bar.

Sunshinegrl
Sorry you're angry, dude. I get that way. And I take it out on the iron. Or, I pound the crap out of the pavement. Feels good to let it out.
