Confusion_Reigns
It's been going on for a while now, not always but some days I just cannot keep my eye's in focus. I have no idea why. I've been to the dr but they don't know either. So I figured I'll throw it out here and see if anyone else has any experience with this. I have astigmatism in both eyes and one of my eyes is lazy...my health is good...I watch my sugars because I am predisposed to diabetes. It's like my eyesight keeps splitting...idk how else to explain it...I don't have a headache, but will get one soon because of this... thoughts?
CarrieT
Caveat - I am not a doctor, but I am marrying an eye surgeon and also have experienced what I *think* you might be having... There is a phenomenon called Ocular Migraines, which I have had (before I met my fiance). You can read about them here. For me, when they happen, I see light and a bit of a glowing, sparkly halo effect, but can't focus on anything. I can still see to walk, but everything is hazy. There isn't necessarily any pain involved (like a usual headache), but it is disorienting. They can last an hour or two... I generally need to just go somewhere dark as the lights make the halo sparkle more and it seems more pronounced. Does this sound familiar?
Author Confusion_Reigns
Thank you, but, no. I don't see lights or anything...it's just that my eyes seem to...just stop focusing correctly. Almost like they are spitting up or something...I asked others and no my eyes are not really going different direction when this is happening, they just feel like it. I have a hard time reading or writing...like right now I'm just can't keep them focused on the screen but luckily I know where the home keys are...I can still function but it just takes work to keep my eyes focused. CarrieT
Time to see a good ophthalmologist then -- NOT an optometrist... Optometrists diagnose common vision acuity problems like farsightedness and nearsightedness, prescribing corrective eyeglasses, contact lenses, dispensing and prescription of certain medication, plus testing for eye diseases and conditions. Ophthalmologists can perform the same functions as optometrists, but are considered a higher position as they actually are medical doctors with Doctors of Medicine or Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine degrees who specialize in the eyes and vision care. This means an ophthalmologist can diagnose and treat highly complicated eyes issues, can perform surgeries like Lasik and repair retinal damage, and can handle more area specific cases in vision care. The main difference between the two eye-related careers is that an ophthalmologist can handle surgeries and other issues that require more training on the medical side.

Author Confusion_Reigns
still happening. I got an apt to see my dr on Wed...hopefully she can refer me to a specialist so my insurance will cover it... I wonder if it could be stress related? I had my daughter look at my eyes really closely and she says that the pupils are getting bigger/smaller at different times. Oh my goodness. I go to the dr regularly and everything is always ok...they say I'm very healthy for a woman my age (42 yrs). Wish me luck.
FitChick
Pupils changing size -- how? Does one eye have a big pupil and the other smaller at the same time?
Author Confusion_Reigns
I really don't know...my daughter told me that. Ok, so I stayed home from work one day last week because of this problem. I asked my husband if my eyes were doing weird things and he said that it was my head moving back and forth...later I held my head still with my elbows on the table and asked my daughter (who's 19) and she said it was my eyes...the pupils but she didn't say if they were doing it at different times. I got the apt for wed with my regular dr. This has been going on for a long time...about a year...and is sometimes worse than other times...now it's bad! I went to a dr last year and he said that I was getting over a virus..but he didn't take any blood or anything like that.
