why do guys let the good ones go?

Recommended Posts

i understand both woman and men do this BUT im not one of the women that do that. im asking why guys because i want a guys point of view on this i honestly want to know why you let a good thing go? it seems to me that if you find a good woman you would want to keep her, because it's so hard to find a good woman these days. it's hard to find a good man as well and women shouldnt let them go either but im strictly asking why guys let a good woman go. im talking wife material here, someone you could see yourself with forever. why let that go?

I think some men may not be ready for long-term commitment, and that is why they let a great woman go. Some men might be afraid of commitment, possibly because his own parents had a poor marriage, so he may let a good woman go because he is afraid to progress the relationship. I think it's usually one or the other reason. If a guy is ready to commit, and has no fear of commitment, it's unlikely he will let a good woman go unless he thinks there's something/someone better out there for him.

Because if it takes too long for a woman to open up and to be honest with me, I tend to move on.

That is perhaps the biggest barrier that will keep me away from investing more into a relationship once the dating scene starts.

I don't play games of any kind. If any woman starts any game with me and I can sense it, I will cut you off immediately, no matter how perfect of a woman you may be.

I'm not sure. I wish I knew! :o

My ex was with a girl briefly when he was younger, and after he ended their little fling, she got him black out drunk and tried to 'rape him' (didn't really work since he was drunk, obviously) and they are still friends. Now he is seeing a girl who won't commit to him and has basically turned him into a friend with benefits while my ex wanted a relationship. They are friends. Me? I never cheated on him. Never lied to him. Never tried to rape him. And I always valued him. For some reason, I'm the one that he has to 'keep at a distance.' Go figure

For the same reason women cheat on the guy who would never let the good one go.

I was looking for wife material since I was 17. I'm not made for a slew of short term relationships. I would have never left the first had it been my choice.

Your post is somewhat biased. Not all the good guys let the good ones go, just as not all girls would cheat on the one that wants them.

Because people value and are attracted to different traits, where what's a perfect person to one, might be someone to avoid for another.

Not everyone is good for each other and people who love each other, can't always make relationships work.

It's because they were never wife material to that guy. It's like women saying a guy is afraid to commit no it's that he don't want to commit to you.

Just because they are a good person does not mean it is a good relationship.

It is more than possible to have two great people that have a terrible relationship.

So maybe that is why they are letting the good ones go.

Girl I know exactly what you mean!!!

I was an angel compared to my ex's previous LTR and I would have done anything for him. Never did I place demands on him or ask for anything other than his love. Yet he threw me away so he could bang some slutty blonde chick (he most likely met in a bar) who will inevitably cheat on him.

I just don't get it...

Some men ARE afraid to commit for reasons within themselves, but I agree that sometimes the man is not afraid to commit, he just doesn't want to commit to a particular woman because he doesn't see her as "wife material."

I've dated perfect woman that were not wife material to me. Why? No chemistry. If you're gonna wake up next to someone for the rest of your life you want to make sure you really really love her. Otherwise....you need to keep looking. My 2 cents.

Odd as it sounds, sometimes it just boils down to a 'feeling' in the gut.

Something that says "This isn't the one for you"

You can't really explain it. Can't really express what's going on. You don't really understand yourself. You just know, deep down, you just don't see a future with her.

It doesn't matter how amazing she is, or how much you want to feel differently. There's just something making you hold back. I've always figured that if you met the right person, that feelings wouldn't be there.. you wouldn't need to 'drag' yourself into the future with someone. You'd be running towards it with them.
