Hurricane season

I live in Florida, and it is hurricane season. The past few years have been quiet but we have gotten some big ones in the past that wipe out and destroy homes, trees, and leave us without power for weeks.

We always get warned by the weatherman when there is something going on out in the ocean. They tell us what category it is, and where they think it is going to hit . Any time there is a tropical storm brewing in the ocean, most people stock up on emergency supplies, bottled water, secure their houses with hurricane shutters, go out and buy generators, etc. If its going to be really bad we get told to evacuate. Evacuating is really inconvenient and most people won't do it unless the hurricane is predicted to be a cat 5 and staying in your home is risking your life. We will wait until the last minute when it's almost 100% certain we have to leave.

My personal experience with being a BS and having 2 Ddays was like living in Florida during hurricane season. Only instead of a warning, the weatherman said nothing. No pictures of the storm out in the ocean. No predictions on trajectory or where and when it will hit.

DDay #1 was like a cat 3. And the weatherman, aka xbf, did warn me of a little rain. Ill give him that. But---he told me all the facts wrong. Boy was I surprised when it was a full blown hurricane. But ok- I can forgive tht, I thought. He promised to be better at his job. I believed he would.

DDay #2 was like a cat 5. Total destruction. And what did my weatherman warn me of this time? Nothing. He was predicting sunny skies and nice days at the beach. There wasnt a drop of rain in sight until Hurricane Sex Addict hit my house with full force. Worst weatherman ever. He's fired.

An interesting analogy. I'm also in Florida. I can use Hurricane Wilma from a few years ago as an example.

DDay 1 was like the first half of the storm. Not quite so bad. Some things were broken outside. Maybe 70-80 mile per hour winds. Not earth shattering but not comfortable.

The false reconciliation was was like when the eye of the storm went over my house. It was calm. Light breeze. Walking around outside was nice but knowing things needed to be fixed.

DDay 2 was like when the back half of the storm hit. Immediate blast of 110-120 mile per hour winds. Lots of destruction. Roof was leaking water inside the house. Ran into an interior closet for protection because the pressure dropped so fast I thought there may be a tornado. (Luckily there wasn't one). Hearing things slam into the side of the house. Then spending 10 days without power.

Now: The sun is shining :)

:) ooh yeah Wilma was bad. That is the one I was thinking of in my OP actually.

The eye of the storm part you added is awesome, perfect analogy. It seems like its over but then BAM

During Wilma I lived down the street from a hospital- FPL got their power back back on right away. Apparently I wasn't on the same power grid though because it was almost 2 more weeks before we got ours back. I remember considering camping out in the ER waiting room for some AC Lol

Well, we don't have Hurricanes in my neck of the woods. Less the system bringing rain and such. Around these parts we deal with tornadoes. The most recent Dday was an F4 heading toward being an F5.

Yes, it was cloudy and drizzling off and on for sometime. There were promises of a break in the dreary weather. I took my raincoat off expecting sunshine. Unbeknownst to me there was a storm heading my way. Dark clouds of suspicion creeped in. Winds picked up. H blew more hot air than usual. Then before I knew it I heard what sounded like the end of my world... it sounded like a woman's voice on my H's voicemail.... but it was the funnel cloud forming from the swirling winds that sounded like a freight train. I watched as everything I loved was ripped from it's foundation. Everything torn and splintered and there was nothing I could do. It was all gone. Everything.

It hasn't stopped raining since. I'm water logged and still seeking shelter.

Whew. That was neat to write out OP. That actually felt really good.

I hope you are doing well now BTT :)
