Hi my friends,

I just wanted to share with you something.

Last week I told myself I had to join the gym. It's not that I am fat, I weigh about 125-30 and I am 5-8, but I do need to tone up. Let me just say, I HATE TO EXERCISE!!!!!! However, I am going to do it for my own benefit and no one else's.

When I went yesterday it was so cool afterwards. I felt refreshed, new. Today? I have a body ace :p I do hope that it helps.

Does anyone here go to the gym? If so, how long did it take for you to see results?

I go to Curves (for women). I've been going for like 4 1/2 months, lost 13 inches or so and have gained like 4 lbs. 3 times a week, 30 minutes each day. Congrats on the plunge.

And I'm just a regular fat ass. I'm working out, drinking this RAUNCHY protein shake in the mornings and thinking seriously about prescription diet pills. AAARRRGGH. I used to be so un-fat. It sooooo catches up with ya.

Aches are good, it lets you know that you were streching your muscles. Though if it really hurts its a sign to let you know that you've overdone it. So if its still really sore then I'd try doing a little less next time.

Also speak to someone at the gym to setup a routine for you so you can tone up the correct areas, I'm working on my pecs at the moment which involves doing 20 reps with different sized weights and doing 3 sets of them.

I am going to have a trainer for the 1st month. I hope he's a cutie :p:love:

He'll probably just make you do cardio work until you increase your fitness level and then after the 10 sessions or so then you'll get moved onto doing fat burning and weights.

I love that! Thank you! I love great insight and positive feedback. I have and must again, work on it, the body should remain a temple, when all else fails if we feel good we look good.\\\

Thank you.

at the gym there is nothing that makes me feel better or more relaxed. I have almost no fat on me and have awesome muscle definition. I love to go in there after a rough day at work or when life is stressin me out.

Hm...

Actually, it's not a bad idea.:)

(P.S. I think Fuzzymuzzy was saying nothing feels better THAN working out after a hard day... :))

Well you notice the difference when you do the same workout and you dont feel tired after it or when your time goes down for example a mile run on a treadmill.

I was managing 8 minutes which is absolutely pathetic and now i manage it in a nice 6 minutes 30 which is good enough for me. I can also now lift 18kg where i use to have problems lifting 8kg.

If you mean muscle definition then my biceps and my legs are ok where my abdomen and pecs have been neglected since my workout never really included them and thats what i'm working on now.

It took me about 2 months to get my fitness level up to scratch though i only use to go twice a week back then and well now i go 3-4 times a week and i do my usual 40 minutes of cardio and then spend another 20 doing various weights before heading to the spa and i rarely get muscle aches any more but i usually feel tired afterwards. The gym killed sex with my ex, we would both be too tired to do anything afterwards.

Congrats on hitting the gym Girl!

I've been back for about a month now (following a brief hiatus diue to our Rugby season here) and it feels great!!! I live about a block away from my gym so I usually go about 5 days a week...sometimes just for a nice little 1/2 hour run.

I go to the local YMCA which I love because everyone including the staff and other patrons are really friendly. Plus they have a pool and offer TONS of classes from Belly Dancing to my personal Favorite...Bodypump!!!!

I find that I sometimes get bored with my routine and the best way to mix things up is to get a new trianing plan from your trainer or try a fitness class...I personally like to go to a couple classes a week with some girls from my team - it's fun to go together and because I'm a little competitive, I tend to push myself a little harder around the girls than I would if I was on my own.

Oh yeah and a hint about the aches...they are a sign that you're pushing your muscles which is good. What I have found is that especially after a tough game or workout, if I'm really sore, I ease off the weights for a couple of days but make sure to do some light cardio.....this keeps your muscles from seizing up by getting your blood pumping to take all the toxins that cause pain out of your muscles....it doesn't take long, maybe only 15 or 20 minutes but you'r achy arms and legs will thank you for it the next day!

Good luck Girl!
