revitup
I thought I would start a new thread and see what it feels like.I kind of feel like I'm cheating on my old thread.I feel so sneaky. This thread will not have REV saying anything about the (you know who) in it! All about REVITUP and daughter here. So here is the question I have today.... What do I do with my wedding band? I think I would like to make it into something to go onto a necklace maybe. My daughter and I pick up sharks teeth-big ones on the islands at Topsail Beach and they make really nice necklaces. I am ordering some leather necklace material that looks just like barbed wire, sweet look to it.I like the idea about maybe a shark tooth wrapped with brass that incorporated the band? What cool ideas have you guys heard about? REVITUP-New and improved

I'm doing the same, my engagement ring is going to my daughter and wedding band to my son... Think my kids will wear them both, so will keep them as they are... I am ordering some leather necklace material that looks just like barbed wire, sweet look to it.I like the idea about maybe a shark tooth wrapped with brass that incorporated the band? What cool ideas have you guys heard about? REVITUP-New and improved I think it depends on what the band means to you. After I split from my unfaithful wife, I threw my band away. For me that symbolism was perfect. But I do like the mental image of the shark's tooth. Cool idea ... Mr. Lucky
Mystery2Me
Congratulations on the new thread...breaking fresh ground is good! Cool idea for the band, really creative. My take is less artistic in nature, I am selling my 2 wedding sets (got a new one 1 yr before D-day....crazy) with the proceeds going towards retirement fund. OR I may use for a bit of a treat. I gave my rings back to the ex who pawned them and did what I knew he would....went gambling. lol!
MsOptimist
New threads are in the air today I didn't do anything special with my wedding rings - actually they're tossed in the back of a drawer rather carelessly. Just the way my marriage was tossed aside so it seems fitting

RonaldS
Somehow, my XW ended up with my wedding band. She has it in her jewelry box (daughter told me). So, I guess if she wants it, she can have it. She has all of the evidence of our relationship. I have none. Not one shred, other than pics of the kids. No pics of her, no memorabilia, nothing. Don't want it, don't need it, don't care. She can have it all.
vla1120
I actually just took off my wedding rings and put them away. My hand feels naked. I'm thinking of buying an emerald ring for myself to symbolize a new beginning. My daughters have already asked me for them and, of course, they all want the diamond ring. Have you heard of the diamond candles? Each candle has a ring in it worth $10-$10,000 or something like that. I'm thinking of making three candles and putting my engagement, wedding, and 25-yr anniversary ring, one in each, and letting my daughters pick their candle. Whichever one they get, that's the one they keep!

hayewils
my first wedding band I threw out driving down the road at 80 mph.. Could be buried in the mud, could be thrown further out by those highway mowers and tilled under by some farm tractor, could be on some ol boys hand who was running from the border patrol. hell who knows. The one that went on my finger in 2009 is in my medicine cabinet. After reading this new post created by the REVIT.. I Like the idea of coating sharks teeth by the way.. But my latest band.. hmm, been thinking about that.. I am on a lot of drilling rigs. a lot of frac locations.. I could be very successful in getting that thing down in the ground at 18 thousand feet.. who knows, me throwing that ring down hole may hold a rock up somewhere and make it the biggest money making well in the eaglefordshale...or shut it in.. LOL I think I will to hold on to mine for a little while yet..
WreckedDan
I have both her rings and mine sitting in a candle holder in my bathroom. Keeping the diamonds for my daughter since they were my grandmothers. Thinking of selling mine to pay for a new hot tub cover Dan
Author revitup
Well hopefully (weather permitting) DD15 will be sitting on a Topsail Island Beach,as Rev is headed 77 miles OFFSHORE to the Wahoo/Mahi and Yellowfin Tuna grounds! Still thinking of ideas for the band. After seeing what I had became ,I think it may have turned into what we country boy's know as a "Hog ring" or "ring in your nose" ! Not this weekend though! I am almost single and on the road to the good times.Problems still happen but they are so much easier to handle now. If you fish, you know how I have butterflies right now! Happy holiday weekend- I always confuse Labor Day and Memorial day! Let's go with Happy Labor Day! REVITUP
Author revitup
Almost forgot...Does anyone know what a Polish Wanker is? Some will get it..... others probably have a real life and didn't see it like I did. REVITUP
Mystery2Me
Congratulations, Rev!!! Freedom is a all there is and you have embraced that with open arms. In the wake of senseless the WW spouse.....Disposing of the band is a form of closure, so very important to those of left with no answers, but no matter what you choose the closure is your choice. Very much I enjoy reading of your and DD next adventure, because it means the hell with the mess....I AM ALIVE AND LIVING. trippi1432
Good luck Rev...hope you catch a huge yellow fin. My son and I are headed that way after band practice Saturday night, will have a nice wake up Sunday morning. I think that will be my first vacation this year actually...will be a nice one. I grew up at the beach....there's a lot of things the ocean can tell us...how to flow..how to drift with the current..how to swim with the current so we don't drown. OH..and the best one....how not to be the shark bait and watch for the rip tides. Happy Labor day!!

Gunny376
Find a box, prefreablly a wooden one with a clasp? Put the ring in a box, and put away in a deep, dark place, ~ forget about it. Leave it alone and go there seldom ~ if ever. Never go to retrive it! Twenty ~ thirty years hence? It will be a "treasure" to the DD15 and/or your grandchildren or her grandchildren! A keepsake, a memory, a token, not only of the XHEX but of YOU! Of who you are and who you were? A mystery? A token of the LOVE that you and the XHEX once shared! The star-child you beget? Don't make short term decisons with long term regretting consequences! Trust me on this, for I speak to you with the age of wisdom, knowledge and experience!

Author revitup
Thanks Gunny-I will most likely just hide it away. The things I discover now from my ancestors are precious to me.I am actually a sentimental person inside about these things. Now about-The beach ...Whew...Great Labor Day beach trip. Didn't get the Saturday Stream trip... Went to the beach-laid out and just walked the beach on Saturday. I did get the Sunday Commercial Grouper trip- 37 Gag Grouper and I have no idea how many Black Seabass and assorted bottom dwellers. It was brutal with the sea conditions (6 footers) but it always takes my mind to a better place-a clearer one. Speaking of which-DD15 is growing up so fast and the pictures show it.Boy oh boy how things change over a summer. My mind is racing to figure the "single Dad" stuff out. It's great trying to keep ahead of her. I'm so happy DD15 has adjusted well and grows so much stronger everyday. It really says a lot to me when DD15 walks up and "leans on me".She doesn't have to say a word-just leans on me in public and it lights me up inside. It's all good. Well it's not all good...The STBXWW- who sent the $70.86 TOTAL in child support (over the last 9 months) sent DD15 a text Friday -"Do you need anything for school?" What mother asks a 10th grade daughter if they "need" anything for school? That comment went over like a fart in church-with DD15 and REV.We both said "she has got to be kidding". I think we may sell the wedding band and buy the STBXWW "A CLUE"!:)I'll leave that alone and move to something else. There's one thing I'm getting that is sort of strange. DD15 and I know everyone at the beach and they have known me since I was a kid and the STBXWW since I met her. They are trying to "help" me in conversations now.I didn't ask them to "help" me though. I am getting these strange philosophical comments as of late. They're asking.... "How's it going" followed quickly by "who is your new girlfriend-you have one right?" and "you have a girlfriend, you always have had a girlfriend,I know it" and then "oh you'll find a girl and get married soon,I know you won't have a problem there". When I tell them I'm not looking and I'm OK with being single for the rest of my life (only if I had to wait that long)....they act like there is a horn growing out of my head or that I'm just not thinking straight! They're matchmakers or saving me some pain or something I guess. I always assure them I'm not "jaded" or anti-relationship-I'm just not pressed for a "steady" woman right now.I love women,I love everything about women and enjoy the company of a woman. It will have to be a very, very special woman to capture my heart and attention now.I will never settle for less than an intelligent and loving woman who is mentally stable and doesn't need any fixing-especially if only a man can fix her. I let them all know....It doesn't matter what she does for a living, what degree is on the sheepskin nor her pedigree on Ancestry.com.It doesn't matter what her BMI is either. She will have to be attractive although her attitude has more in determining whether or not she is "attractive" than anything else. I once thought I needed a woman "to complete me".I just don't have that urgency anymore. There's no desire to share my life with a total stranger until I meet a lady who actually IMPRESSES me. Having said all this to my friends....it's still on their hearts to "help" REV somehow overcome the plight of being a single dad! I still love them though.Maybe I will see the err of my ways one day and cave. Right now it's just about growing and learning about me.That's what this weekend helped in doing. This weekend allowed me some time to really process my own desires and expectations in life.I will say that if I meet a woman who found her last boyfriend on Casual Encounters or some other Craigslist stuff...it will be a definite NOPE for her! It may be that I won't touch the "cold stove" because I was burned by the "hot stove" but if REV feels any heat coming from that stove-REV is gone. Am I jaded? Does it seem like a push away for ladies that I say these things? Am I being too hard on my friends? I don't know yet. Anyway,I hope all here have had a great Labor Day and have enjoyed the summer of 2013 as we have. REVITUP

vla1120
Am I jaded? Does it seem like a push away for ladies that I say these things? Am I being too hard on my friends? Nah. You're not jaded. You just know what you want and what you don't want. I got the lecture this weekend about how he already has someone he's head over heals for, and I should be looking for someone, too, so I'll feel better. No matter how much I told them I have NO interest in dating (I'm not even divorced, for crying out loud!) and won't for a very long time. When I am ready, I know who I'll be looking for. If he doesn't exist, I'll happily go without. I guess friends and loves ones just think that, to be happy, you must be with someone. I've never been so happy NOT being with someone (haven't been alone since 19) and I haven't yet begun! Cheers to singlehood-dom!!
