Avoiding it makes it worse, as does resisting it. I know some are fragile, but generally I feel that experiencing the pain of loss in love is a defining point in our experience of life. I have thoughts on the subject, however I think it's a bit like asking "which hurts more: going through labor (childbirth) or getting kick in the balls?".
