Getting hit on by elderly men

Recommended Posts

Any other ladies have this problem?

I cant get guys my age to talk to me outside OLD. I'm 26.

But yet I get this elderly guys hitting on me. For example, I had a 70 year old guy invite me to his assisted living home.

The current admirer is 50s/60s. We met at the park. Mind you, no younger guys have given me a second look, or if they have they haven't struck up conversation. He was actually going to dump his gf to date me. Not only did he think I wanted him, but he was gonna make his rebound b!tch. Keep in mind all I did was talk to him a few times, which will probably stop. He did everything to try and get me to his house-wine,foot rub, etc. Even if he was young I wouldn't date him. It looks like he is impulsive and will end a relationship without due cause. If he'll do it for you, he'll do it to you.

My grandpa is like this, too. He's 70, saggy, toothless, and hunchback but hits on girls younger than me. He George Burns old but thinks he 30 and sexy.

I guess I'm not looking for advice, but I wonder if other girls are going through this?

My guess is they're just trying to be funny.

My grandfather hits on younger women constantly, but mostly because he knows how inappropriate it is, and finds it hilarious.

I got hit on by an elderly woman once. She said "If I wasn't in my seventies..." and then leaned over and whispered horrible things.

It's a pretty common thing. Older guys hitting on much younger women. I've experienced that since I was a teenager, and I still do. And I know men who do this, as well as women who are disgusted by it, who get hit on by dudes 20+ years older. These dudes are delusional, and sometimes try to increase their appeal by flaunting their toys, hoping that that is going to attract these women.

This.

My father jokes that he can now get away with saying some things because he is seen as safe and harmless (which he is).

Those who think every 70 plus year old who gives them a line is genuinely after them are the delusional ones.

I'm not talking about one-liners or jokes. I'm talking about men seriously pursuing much younger women, and thinking they would be interested. I once had an older man purposely crash into my car because he said he wanted to meet me and that was the only way he could figure out how to do it while driving. My niece had a much older dude pursuing her on the internet for many months. I'm not talking about joking with someone. Some men are serious pursuers, and I've met my share of them.

Seriously Kathy I have to wonder about where you live where old men crash into your car to talk to you and women walk up to your husband and hit on him when the two of you are eating out in restaurants.

This isn't specific to my present location. I've lived in a few different states in my life. Stuff like this happens. It's the nature of some people throughout the country. My sister experiences this type of stuff as well, as do several people I know.

I met a 60 year old research scientist at a Meetup. He lost his wife three years ago. I thought he was so sweet telling me how he wanted to meet someone just like his wife. Someone around his age, very educated, sophisticated, etc. He even showed me pictures.

Fast forward...after seeing him at a couple more Meetups he asked me to go to a wine tasting party with him. I am 37. So much for him looking for someone his age!

Hey! I'm old! 65. Give us seniors a break. Most of us are harmless anyhow. George Burns once said that when a man is old, having sex is like shooting pool with a rope.

By the way, where are you hanging out? The senior center?

It's very common. I got that on online dating, too: favourited by a man over 60, old enough to be a parent, and messaged by others who weren't much younger.

My sister's husband is twenty-three years older than she is, and he hit on me, too. It is common; I can tell when someone is joking.

Same here HotPotato, I can't get a man under 60 to save my life. ^_^

I suppose it's because I'm easy to talk to. Elderly men sometimes get a bit carried away chatting with me, 40 minutes will pass and they realize they gotta get back to the retirement home, but they say they wish they could take me with them. I don't take that in a bad way though, I see it as though they enjoy my company and would appreciate having someone around just to chat with more often.

Oh this last guy was coming on strong.

At the bridge where we met he'd park next to me.

He'd make comments about my body...Saying that I bounce a lot when I walk...Talking about how good it was I dont' have skinny legs...Shamelessly staring at my chest...

I give him props for trying though.

When I was a 19 year old college girl, an 85 year old man at Boston's Haymarket asked me out for a cup of coffee. He did it with humor and I smiled as I declined.

Not necessarily.

I know guys that married girls 20 years younger.

That would be pretty rare. Most people aren't interested in someone old enough to be their father.

Yep, my sister experienced that as well when doing OLD. Men 15+ years her senior, claiming they are not attracted to women their own age, and trying to impress her with their toys.

Be careful with that elderly word ;) , I am 47 and have girls your age hitting on me! In fact, I am having dinner with a 29 year old tonight, she prefaced it with "No expectations!".

They aren't hitting on you. They are bored and looking for a free meal. If you want to test that theory, make them pay their half and see if you get subsequent dates.

I get much younger men hitting on me too. Most of them I don't take seriously. They are fun to talk to though. If they can run faster than me, I may give one of them a whirl.

Anyway, Babs, you seriously don't recognize how much 'mid-life crisis' vibe you give off. There isn't a newly divorced guy your age who hasn't gone through this if he has his own stuff and looks half-way decent.

My hero! :D

47/29 is not a bad age gap. 60/37 is pushing it. These are M/F age ratios of course; flip that over and everyone would be falling over themselves to praise you and say "You Go!"

Jerry Seinfeld explained marrying a woman 15 years (at least) his junior, that women are more mature and men are more immature, so "we meet around mid 30s". :D

So relax, folks, it's all fun. Have some before you die already.
