Thinkalot
HI everyone. Just wanted to drop by and let my friends here know, things have been going well for me overall, since I stopped taking anti-depressants for OCD. The obsessive thoughts DO happen more often, there is no doubt the tablets help, and that the extra seratonin calms down the obessiveness, and makes it so much easier NOT to worry or be anxious. However, my libido and ability to orgasm returned, almost like a switch being flicked, when I stopped the tablets, and that has been an immense relief and made my fiance and I happy..lol! I'm coping with the ocd OK at this stage, and using techniques I've learnt through therapy. My fiance is also trying to be supportive, and realises it's a bit harder for me at the moment. I am also keeping busy, and directing my energy and obsessiveness into positive creative projects, which seems to be helping. I'm pretty pleased with how I am going actually. My fiance and I still have our ups and downs, and me being off the tablets does sometimes make it harder for sure, but overall we are doing well. We recently had a big blow up, but as some of you suggested at the time, we overcame it and are back close and happy. Sending my friends here, and those who have helped me in the past, all the best. Glue
Try Wellbutrin, it works better for me, plus no (very low, i mean verly low) sexual sides. Of course I use it for depression and anxiety. I was on Celexa, it made me feel better, but I was still anxious, still had trouble sleeping. Plus it had a bad effect on my ability to orgasm. With Wellbutrin, I sleep through night. Plus I started to exercise, which helps too, for sleeping better I am not sure if Wellbutrin helps OCD, but you can ask you Doc. Good Luck!
Author Thinkalot
Thanks for the tips. Ideally though, I'd prefer to keep taking nothing, if I can keep managing it!
meanon
Thinkalot! Sorry I missed you. I'm so glad everything is going well for you both. You're doing really well. It can be tough without meds but people do manage it and you are so determined to find a way to make it work. That counts for a lot. Keep in touch. Be happy

loveregardless
Good for you sweetie. It is hard to be off of medications. It is a lot more work and takes a lot more dedication, but it is definitely possible. And you are definitely worth the effort. Especially since you get your true personality back, above all else. I've been off of my meds for two years now, some days are good, some are worse...but it's worth it to me. I'm very happy for you, and I wish you all the luck in the world. Just don't forget that bad days will happen sometimes, and don't lose faith in yourself when they do. This weekend was pretty bad for me, their were an abnormal amount of triggers being catapulted at my psyche, but I dealt with it, had a few tears, ran around in circles a few times and this morning I'm feeling a lot better. Anyway, you know we're here when you need us.
