uongy
hey people.i really want to help my friend out but have no idea how. she has divorced parents and has lived with her mum.she used to see her dad on a regular basis and there were no major problems.now, her dad and mum have new partners and her dad has re-located to New Zealand for the moment.(she is in the UK) thing is,this will be a premanent thing the way things are going.as she is in the UK,and being 18,its going to be difficult to see him.she said she hasnt realy approaced the subject with her dad since it wont really do much to change things.she is in real pain that she wont be able to see her dad.it was only recent that she and her dad had actually got close due to the separation of her parents. shes a real tough girl and doesnt normally let things get to her.but last night at a party, she was alone in a room and almost in tears(she never cries). ive been thinking of her all day and seeing her cry make me feel so bad.it has realy affected me and i want to do something about it. i know i cant do much in terms of the actual situation, but im sure i can help her in some way. any advice please, either on the situation itself or what i can do. moimeme
Just be a supportive friend. It's up to the father and daughter to work out their relationship. Either he will be sure to keep in touch with her or he'll ditch his fatherly duties. And you can't do a thing about it except let her talk to you when she needs to.
bluechocolate
Continue being a good friend & just be available to listen to her when she's ready to talk about it. There really isn't much you can say that she hasn't heard before or thought about already so it's probably best just to be sympathetic & understanding of her feelings. It's a grieving process, she'll get better in time, we all do.
