How do guys feel about colored contact lenses?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I admit it... my sister's eyes are blue. Her eyes always pop in pictures.

If the flash weren't on, mine would look dark. They just don't stand out. People always say my smile is my best feature.

It really would be fun for a change to see what the eyes can do ;)

Mine don't really stand out in pictures either, but who cares? I want people to see me in person.

As ya'll know, I dye my hair and have implants, and I totally agree with this.

I have very green eyes though, so maybe it's because I love them as is?

For me, eyes are so important. I feel you can tell so much about a person from their eyes. That wearing contacts that alter your eyes in anyway is akin to wearing a mask.

What about makeup?

Are you just against altering the iris?

I always wanted lenses to sort of brighten my natural eye color.

I have light brown, amber-ish eyes. I wanted lenses to just enhance that golden orangey tone to them. It's kinda different, ya know?

I couldn't imagine myself with any other color!

I do want to get "doll eye" lenses that kind of make them look bigger. For halloween. :)

I love makeup if its done right.

Yeah just the iris.

I admit it doesn't make logical sense. But eyes to me are the most attractive part of someone's face.

Sure, their expression... There was something about that in a TED video I posted about lie spotting. People who are truly smiling have their eyes crinkle up at the corners. She recommends going light on the Botox ;) Which I don't do (Botox)

In that case, doing Botox would be more like a mask than changing your eye color.

I dunno. I'm having a hard time seeing that contacts are any different than changing hair color or wearing makeup.... but I did ask the question, so I appreciate the input.

Anyway, like I said in another thread, that the guy for me isn't going to be overly impressed by looks anyway... so it's not like any guy I'd want to end up in a relationship with someday would care. Just like he wouldn't care if he happened to meet me on a day I was wearing makeup and then saw me without it.

Speaking of makeup... there is something about going without makeup that seems a lot more real and vulnerable.... un-mask-like. That I really like. There are a handful of guys out there who prefer women who don't wear makeup and I like that.

As contradictory as it is.... The power that changing one's eye color has to affect one's 'look' without a stitch of makeup is pretty compelling to me... and SO much quicker...

Back when I used to wear glasses in my teens, I finally got some contacts and not really thinking it through I picked a grey contact lens thinking it would be interesting to have grey eyes...well I have brown eyes and I didn't even think about the combination of grey and brown, so when I popped em in they ended up being this really dark blue...I just went with it just happy not have to wear glasses anymore but I was receiving a lot of attention and compliments on my eyes...it was kind of embarrassing because I didn't really want to be complimented on something that weren't really mine...after all I thought the damn things would be grey, I just told people they were contact lenses because they were like "oh you have the bluest eyes I've ever seen" so I guess they looked natural.

I ended up getting Lasik surgery and correcting my vision so I don't wear anything anymore, but It was a very interesting experience...I would often forget about the fact I was wearing them and get some random compliment...but my eyes are kind of deep set too so they are strong feature on my face, I've been complimented on my eyes before but not as much with those contacts. I'm not someone who would go to great lengths for vanity as long as I look put-together so for me it's an afterthought, no one seemed to mind IME.

Well...I honestly can't say WHY I dislike colored contacts so. I do know that I've known girls in the past who have done this and I've always felt like saying, "Why!?!".

I also kinda feel that way about extensions, too. My wife's former best friend used to wear extensions. Looked and felt real...and was on there tight. She even let me pull on them (heh).

But then I could just imagine making love to my woman...feeling her hair and knowing it was someone else's...would probably creep me out.

I don't like a whole lotta make up either, for that matter, unless it's done in the RIGHT way...like by an actual make up artist.

Funny you mention extensions, KFJ. Once in awhile I put some clip-ons in to change my hair color just for fun. Have got some brown ones that I tipped in deep purple.... Looks cool mixed into the strawberry blonde.

... but even when I don't wear any extensions, people think I have them because my hair is thick and very long (right now it's near my waist... I need a trim). Looks like this...

It does annoy me when people assume my hair isn't real.

maybe the people who should be pissed by contacts are the ones who have naturally gorgeous eyes...

The rest of us poseurs wearing contacts to make them stand out is so wrong!! ;)

Wha?! Your natural eyes weren't perfect just the way they were?!! ;)

How did that go, by the way... the Lasik?

I wore colored contacts for a few years. They were honey colored. A light brown color. Then I switched to grey ones. Both of them got me serious looks from chicks and quite a few of them used it as an ice breaker to approach me.

It sucked seeing them so interested when they asked "are those you real eyes?!?" to their disappointed "oh..." when I told them they were fake.

One day I took a picture of myself in my regular clear contacts (had run out of colored ones) and loved how my expression looked.

Mysterious, passionate, deep.

The colored ones made me look like a pretty boy.

My regular eyes were the real me. The manly, stripped down, natural me.

I stopped wearing them immediately.

While I don't get women walking up to me to compliment me on my eyes anymore, I am more successful in dating now than I was then.

I'm glad that I'm successful being myself. No frills at all.

After the experience, I wouldn't judge a woman who wears them, but find women to be more attractive when they go all natural.

::gasp:: It was the only thing that was finally able to make me attracted to the "right kind of women", I could finally see the difference!

It's been fine for the past 10 years, nice to wake up without things being blurry...however that might be useful for some men.

Well...I don't mean it like that. I guess I'd be cool with someone wearing them occasionally to accentuate an outfit or make up. I honesty have no real idea. I've only known a handful of people who wore fake contacts and that I actually knew about it...and they were all female (which seems to be who mostly do it).

Maybe if my wife rocked a pair and looked absolutely stunning, I would change my mind. But I love her big beautiful brown eyes and can't imagine liking another color better on her.

I just really haven't come across it all that much.

Alright, LS audience (drum roll, please...)

I've placed one of the pics with contacts lenses in my album. Taken today in broad daylight... which is pretty much the harshest light you can get.... plus closeup.

Still, these things ROCK! Ok, I still like my natural eyes (see my main profile pic)...

but can I say again??... these contacts ROCK.:love::love:

Edited: It is interesting how the colors change in sunlight vs flash at night. I realize that to compare apples to apples I ought to take a pic of my natural eyes in the same light... (runs back upstairs to the window....)

Personally, I don't have an issue with people (not just women) who wear colored contact lenses especially when it is actually makes them feel better or, for some people, more attractive.

To me, this is just like me wearing cologne. I only smell this good during this time. Back at home, rest assured I don't smell as good as this. :D

I hope you enjoy yourself, RR.

I came back from my parent's place this summer with a nice tan and my hair noticeably lighter from the sun...

I thought it would be fun to get some colored contact lenses to jazz up my look a bit... since I don't tend to wear much makeup and well... just for fun.

Ended up getting a very nice pair of green and sort of an aqua blue (my eyes are naturally hazel)... WOW!!! I am totally impressed... Really makes my eyes 'pop'. I don't think I'd ever wear makeup again, these look so awesome...

So, I was just curious... if you guys met a woman who had these amazing eyes... then found out later they were contacts... what would you think?

First woman I dated posted divorce was a blue eyed blonde, or at least I thought. About 2 months into dating her I realized her hair was colored/bleached, she had naturally dark hair, and she wore blue contacts, naturally brown. I found out when I saw a photo of her on her fb page.

I was OK with it though she would never let me see her without her blue contacts; which I thought was weird.

I am a natural guy; prefer a woman who does not wear a lot of make up, no fake stuff (though last gf had breast implants and now she tells me she has hair extensions). I say "prefer"....

Maybe it's just me, but there's something about the eyes where I don't think they should be touched.

Dye your hair, get a boob job, pierce whatever you want...I'm cool.

But change your eye color? I dunno. It would have to be a once in a blue moon deal to go with a very specific look. Then I guess I would be ok...but if you were naturally a brown eyed girl and you ALWAYS wore blue contacts...not cool with that.

The eyes are the windows to your soul...

Read this after I just replied..this was one of my issues with the girl I just described, and why I wanted to see her natural eyes.

They look pretty good. I don't see a main profile pic to compare to your natural eyes though.

The main profile pic IS my natural eyes. I originally had a pic in there taken at night... which I probably should put back in the album, just for reference.

Night lighting makes my hair look a lot more strawberry blonde. Daylight just looks like a medium or dish-water blonde ha ha

Oh, for future reference... there are very few natural blondes after a certain age. Even very blonde hair on most tends to darken over time. mine is only as light as it is now because I did a lot of bike riding while at my parents over the summer.... otherwise it is, well, 'dishwater'... very shiny dishwater. ha ha

(or you could check the 'carpet' to see if it matches the 'curtains'.... which is, I suspect another reason porn stars pull all their pubes out... bleach blonde 'curtains' over a dark 'carpet' probably ain't that attractive)

But back to the eyes... Go into the album and look at each pic. I attached notes saying which was natural and which was contacts...

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I tend to be a fan of working what we were born with...

...I still like to mix it up sometimes and don't see anything wrong with playing around with different looks once in awhile.

Will say, that until I took these pics, I didn't realize how pretty I thought my own natural eyes were. They've become a lot greener and lighter. Especially in strong light.

Interesting.
