SymphonyX
Why do overweight women always make it seem like the only option for a woman to be is either BBW or super anorexic? What happened to just a happy medium of having some curves but still being pretty athletic and having a flat stomach? Also since when did Curvy turn into euphism for BBW? Curvy should mean a girl with a nice shapely figure and a nice midsection
miss_jaclynrae
Because not every woman is built the same genius. Being a woman, you really have NO idea what you are saying at all.
Author SymphonyX
Because not every woman is built the same genius. and I never said every woman should look the same, did I? But I'm pretty sure that 95-99% of women can attain a decent bodytype somewhere in the middle where they are neither fat, nor overly thin Yet many BBW types like to make it seem that the only option is to be other obese or be skinny. Makes no sense
PogoStick
Yes, women abuse the body type description on dating sites. "Average" could be 100 pounds overweight, and "Athletic" doesn't require any muscle tone at all. And I love the common description "I'm not a stick thin Barbie and I'm not 350 lbs either." Great, so there's only a 250 pound range to guess, in which I'm guessing about 335. But don't worry, she's not hiding anything with 8 pictures of just her face.

How many hours at the gym per week? How much dietary deprivation? Have you personally conquered obesity? How many hours do you spend at the gym per week? Do you constantly refrain from eating too much? Even from eating normally? You're right about one thing - you don't understand.
Mascara
Same with men. You ony have to look around these boards really, where it's quite common to hear that unless a man is 6' tall and totally ripped, he has no chance with women. Ignoring all the perfectly average men who end up in relationships. I went on 2 dates with morbidly obese men. One described himself as average, the other as a few extra pounds. To me, those descriptions SHOULD mean someone who generally keeps in shape.

Last time I checked, in US the aerage woman is a size 16 - which, btw falls in plus size as far clothing goes. So if a woman says she's average, you can expect love handles. Maybe it's not women's perception of the 'average' that it the problem. But I love reading how men on here complain that women only go for tall and athetic men and then read this kind of crap.
xxoo
Would it really help your situation to understand overweight women better? Just focus on the women you like. No need to criticize the ones you aren't interested in. Not everyone likes what you like.
HappyLove
Goes both ways how many men swear they are "athletic and toned" when they have a huge gut and double chin! I think men lie about their weight AND height more than women. I mean what idiot lies about their height! Like your not gonna figure that out as soon as you see him. At least weight can be lost or gained but height!?

Or "HWP" Proportional to what? TFY
2sure
My daughter is 17. She is 6 foot , 155 pounds. She is gorgeous, has great curves, and is a competitive and fit fencer. She gets a lot of attention from men, which she either doesn't notice or accept because in her mind, she is the fat girl.

Also I became more aware of the pics their first pic is some gorgeous dude by the third pic he starts looking more like Homer Simpson.

FitChick
I have met tons of men via OLD that are more overweight than their pictures suggest... That is because they were so anxious at the prospect of meeting you that they gained fifty pounds between your phone call and your date.
bentleychic
Shoot, I don't even KNOW what I'm considered any more. LOL Maybe other women are just as confused! (It doesn't help that I still see myself in the mirror as I was 60+lbs ago.)

JourneyLady
Yes, women abuse the body type description on dating sites. It may be a bit overzealous, but I always include my bodyweight in my profile, rather than be accused of getting it wrong. They don't really have enough choices after all. "Average?" without a definition, is useless. Most dating sites do Average, curvy, and bbw. What if you are between curvy and bbw? I put BBW and bathing suit pic and guys say I'm not BBW, but average for my age. I put "curvy" and at least one guy said I was larger than he pictured. sigh... can't win. So I put my exact weight and that leaves nothing to guess at. And I'm losing, so when I had a profile up, they were able to watch the weight go down. Lol! Had a LOT of contacts, but not a lot I was interested in, unfortunately. Oh, and the picture thing? Some of us don't get full body good photos taken of ourselves all that often and many of us don't have the money for a professional. My solution? Camera Awesome on my ipad can time photos, so I set it up across the room and set the timer. It can take a series so I can choose the best one. FitChick
I don't worry about how I describe my body because I have plenty of CURRENT, CLEAR photos on my profile. No one has ever complained that I deceived them. Get a cheap, digital camera with a timer. Problem solved!
