Happy that the end of summer has arrived,,

Why do I put this in this part of the forum?

In my part of the country, the weather has been abslutely terrible..The heat and humidity has been so bad this summer, that it kicks the crap out of you and leaves you exhausted-which takes a bite out of your workout intensity..For me anyway..I hate it.

I cant wait til the cool air rushes in..I can finally ramp it up..While I like to think I am hardcore, the reality is that working all day(I spend half the day in the office and half the day out in the elements.), by the time I hit the gym, im already in a hole, so to speak.. i wish I can train first thing in the AM..Tried several times, cant do it..On the offchance I do, I cant go heavy..My joints and ligaments just arent loose until late in the afternoon and I fear an injury..

Anyone else?

I hate the cold. Swimming laps will become dreary. The only good thing is I get the pool mostly to myself. But it's not as motivating. I can go to gyms with indoor pools, but well, I like the sun shinning down on me. Maybe I run on solar energy? I dunno, but I like the sun. It is bright and makes me happy. I like the warmth that comes from it. It feels good. I need to move back to Hawaii.

I hear you ...

Not to sound cliche, the heat isnt the problem so much...Its this pea soup friggin humidity! Every single day this summer has been a sauna. I dont think we had more than 2 oe 3 days that were dry..Add to that the oppressive heat we had in July where for weeks the temps approached 100 with near 100% humidity. iTs brutal. I dont care who you are, its going to take its toll..The body shuts down..

While strength training is my main thing, I do like to mix it up with various forms of cardio. I do mostly hills and sprints and just regular runnning..I pretty much put that on the shelf until the weather got more bearable. I simply cant do treadmills and ellipticals...too boring. Like to run outdoors.

Really looking forward to the cooler air to get back to running,,

Hawaii? Im with you there!! Great place!

I hate heat and humidity. I moved to Minnesota thinking that the summers would be cool. Boy, was I wrong!!!

This is my least-favorite time of year because I have ragweed and mold allergies. I am hunkered-down waiting for the first killer-frost so I can go outside again. There's nothing better than running outside in sub-zero weather!!!

I'm a runner, dreading the cold :(

Yes, it feels good to run in the cold.....after warming up for a mile or so. Getting dressed and getting out there is mentally painful for me when it's cold outside. And then there's the extra laundry: running hats, gloves, tights, jackets....

So I am soaking up my final runs in the heat, feeling the sun on my tan skin, glistening with sweat. Love it!

I hear you OP. We've had a particularly hot summer by my country's standards and I'm just not built for it. I ran a marathon in the spring but I can barely run three miles now because it's been so hot I haven't wanted to train. Now that the weather has started to turn I can't wait to get out into some bracing cold air
