turnerik
So I work third shift at a high rise condominium. The people that love there are the richest of the rich. One guy I know got naught out of his job for 25 million. I've been there for 6 months. I've been basically perfect, but the past 3 weeks I've screwed up. I don't have much to do on third shift but I deliver the newspapers and put the fire system in off mode. The past 3 weeks I've screwed up 3 times with the papers. I gave someone the wrong paper, then gave someone two of the same kind so one person didn't get there paper, and today I gave the wrong floor the wrong paper. I deliver about 50 papers to the 35 story building. It may not seem like a big mistake, but my boss then gets yelled at by the residents, and then I get yelled at by him. Also I've forgot to put the fire alarm system off 3 times. Once if the guy didn't check the whole building would have had to been evacuated. Nothing has really changed in my life, I've just been in a slump. I feel horrible that my boss gets yelled at for my mistakes. They may not seem like big mistakes, but they are. I got threatens to get fired today if I couldn't get my act together. I know what I'm doing wrong, and I hate messing up at work. I love my job. Any advice on how to get out of my slump? I don't have an excuse, and I hate making them. I wish I would get yelled at by the residents and not my boss.
Grumpybutfun
turnerik: Have you changed your diet in any way? Are you getting proper sleep? Are you stressed about something else? How long has it been since you have had a check-up? It sounds as though you are just off and need to monitor what you are doing to see if you are lacking something you need. A lack of estrogen or testostrone could be a problem. Hormone replacement therapy can help you. Also, if you are getting by with only four hours fo sleep every night that can cause severe depression and anxiety...why do you think sleep deprivation is what people use to get information? Take it easy on yourself and try to get to the bottom of this. I am sure there has to be a reason if this is a new thing. Grumps
Dallers
I agree with the above my entire way of life was most certainly to blame for the mistakes I made throughout my first job. Leaving my first job was the start of a new life for me in terms of diet and exercise and years of drug abuse and obesity led to my hormone levels being drastically out of line. Take a look at yourself before worrying that something is wrong with you mentally, a lot of the time it can actually be something you are doing that is causing the problem. Firstly make sure that you are eating correctly, getting enough calories and have your macros correct so that you are fueling your body and your brain. Make sure you are doing enough exercise which helps to keep your body and mind working efficiently and has a big impact on hormonal levels. Stress as also mentioned above can have a huge affect on your ability to focus. In regards to both of your cases without knowing what your lifestyles are like I would recommend trying a ZMA supplement which is superb for increasing testosterone, recovery and pushing your body into a deep sleep. I was making mistakes that I was not realising were happening, being pulled into meetings to discuss errors that I was oblivious to and it was the worst working years of my life and only when I made changes to my body did the problem disappear. If you find yourself worrying all the time at your job that you are going to make a mistake, you will make a mistake. Maybe look for another job and start again if they are threatening to fire you. Screw them. Edited September 3, 2013 by Dallers
beautifulearth83
I've been dealing with this at my job too, but no longer as of recently! I realized something: Don't take it personally. Realize that there are rules, and if you follow them, you won't have any issues beyond the norm. So I say forget about your reputation up until now, take a moment and ponder what the rules are, the protocol, guidelines, whatever you want to call it. And just know that when you come into work, that is all you need to do. You don't need to spend all day thinking about what sort of person you are, or make it into something social. Just make sure the work gets done, the way it is supposed to, and you'll feel relief, as a challenge to yourself. Your slump could end right now. Don't give up. Prove yourself.
