IhavenoFREAKINclue
I have this crazy idea where i would leave my current job, find a job in Florida and just pick up my life and start over! I want to do that. Im not sure if its so smart but i want to start from scratch. New place, new people, new job! Should i just pick up my life and go? I need input! Thanx
tattoomytoe
i would get a job lined up first, and a place to stay. money and housing.....those are real stressors that you should get done and out of the way before you get there.
savethedrama4allama
Should you pick up and start a new life? IhavenoFREAKINclue Like toes said, you would definitely need to line some things up first, but why not? What have you got to lose?
EC
I am very spontaneous and it's something I would do... But research it first you know? Make sure you have a job lined up and a place to live. It's a big decision but if you are not happy where you are at then why not? You never know what could happen?
Naive
I think we all know I'm spontaneous as well, but I don't know about just leaving like that, no plan, no job. Find at least a job there and if you really want to then GO FOR IT!!!! Sometimes that's the only way to go!!

Author IhavenoFREAKINclue
EC- i dont mind Veronica at ALL But I was looking at Clearwater or Tampa. What about Miami? Has anyone ever totally changed thier lives by doing something like this?
EC
I lived in Miami my entire childhood and I still visit from time to time... It's gotten a bit how do I say "Ghetto"...but it all depends where you move to. Tampa is nice but quiet...at least for me I dont like quiet ... And Clearwater I like as well. I mean I didn't move so far but I got a new job supporting my family, and my job was in Boca Raton, about an hour and a half from where I lived in Miami. I made my brother switch schools and my mother switch jobs. But we have all gotten adjusted to it..and life is better. I definitely needed a change.
tattoomytoe
well any move really, will change your life. new places, new faces....... it will be different. and it is hard to go off by yourself not knowing anyone...so i do caution you on the homesickness you may feel, that is why i suggested finding a place to live and the job thing pre-move....that way those stressors will not amplify the normal feeling of "what the hell have i done". and that feeling will go away too, eventually. blind_otter
Miami blows. Tampa is still relatively sucky as well. Never been to clearwater. Thing about FL is that the hurricanes are going to be bad for the next 30 years or so. I dunno, for me living in FL is like living in a hot, wet, sponge....I've always wanted to move to northern CA. creativelyobsessed
i once picked up and moved to miami for just over a year. it's true, the south IS a big hole of unemployment. there are different people everywhere, as well, but the lifestyle is different. i found the drive (or lack thereof) to be very different too. it depends on what field you are in. for instance, if you are in the banking bus. and speak a few languages, you shouldn't have too much of a problem. if you love the hospitality business, great -- you could manage a hotel or bartend or something. other than those two things, and there ARE other jobs there of course, there isn't much. i have a degree and great work experience and i totally struggled. the way business is run is different, etc. i recommend at least visiting beforehand. i basically went at a very explorative time in my life and i'm sickly spontaneous. i had about 5 different "real" jobs, too -- if you can call desk jobs real versus waiting tables, etc. you will get tired real quick of the annoying restaurant/hotel bus. unless that is your profession. also, don't get too amped up over trying to get your florida real estate license -- everyone and their little brother has one. unless you have some real connections or are REALLY talented at networking and connecting with developers. and, it helps a GREAT deal if you speak spanish -- most jobs down there, even office jobs, want you to have that.. hope this helped a little bit.
