FrenchToast
Hello everyone! I've been browsing through this section for awhile and have finally decided to ask a question that has been bugging me for quite a while. I was hoping to resolve the question on my own but it has not worked out that way. I do not know if spirits or ghosts exist and I have been told that ghosts do not exist and that when one dies they leave this earth and they can in no way be able to contact people that are still here and alive and that if one believes that they have come in some sort of contact with a ghost then it is the work of Satan and that he is trying to lead you away from God. The reason why I do not understand this is because when I have had some sort of experiences in the past...I did not run away from God. He was always the first person that I thought of. If I found myself comfortable during an experience I would ask God what that was all about. If I was scared then I would tell them to go away. I usually call my "experiences" visitors. I have not had any visitors in a while...I never see them but I feel their presence for a short amount of time or have had dreams. I never expect or ask for them to come by...it's randomly when I least expect it. Thank you.
M30USA
All I can say is that I am certain of one thing: During the periods of my life when I have prayed most fervently to God (the one whose Son is Jesus Christ), I have experienced visions where I've seen beings. The strange thing is that I didn't get the sense that these beings were good. Going just on gut feelings, I'd say they were demonic. So why did this happen during my most fervent prayers? Who knows. I still hold to the belief that when we truly pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to deny our physical body (as Jesus did), the dark forces get TRULY intimidated and afraid of losing territory. So they engage in spiritual warfare and scare tactics. Just look at how satan, himself, appeared to Jesus after intense prayer and fasting. Was Jesus "dabbling" in things that were "dangerous"? Nope. He was just getting barraged by the enemy because he was a threat. So it is with us, I believe. Much of what even the church calls evil is actually good; and much of what is called good is actually evil. It takes true spiritual discernment to see the difference, and scripture must be the litmus test. The church has been wrong TOO many times for me to listen to them uncautiously. Author FrenchToast
M30USA - Very interesting about your visions after prayer. I used to say the Guardian Angel prayer at night before bed when I was a child and after I had been asleep for some time I would wake up because I would hear something walking around the house or into my room and stand by bed. It would scare me so much as a child that I stopped saying the prayer before bed and on those nights I wouldn't wake up and hear whatever it was walking around the house. When I was a young adult away from home I started saying the prayer again (I attributed the visitations to being a child or it was the floors settling in the house) and again I would wake up after a few hours with the feeling of something in my room and it was NOT a good feeling at all. I have no idea about what that was about...maybe something similiar to what you have experienced, but I still do not say that prayer anymore. I just talk to God now and wake up fine in the morning. darkmoon - thank you for the link. I'm going to check it out.

I too am slightly afraid of praying with fervency because I'm scared I'll see a spirit in my room. Whatever they are, it's terrifying. I have done extensive research on this from Scripture. There are numerous examples of holy men of God who experience terrifying visions. For example, when Abraham received the promise from God, it said God was covered in "thick darkness" and it said Abraham felt scared and even physically sick! Think about that: darkness, terror, and sickness from GOD? Most churches today would call such an experience demonic. But you can't argue with what Scripture says. Note: my point is that you can't tell if a spiritual experience is holy or demonic by how you feel. Feelings are useless. This subject is highly complicated and requires great discernment. I will just say to ONLY call upon the name of God, Jehovah, Farher of Christ. Do not delve into other gods or powers. This area is powerful, even though hidden, and you MUST make sure to follow the true God.
