What about getting married is so appealing?

Which is a total and utter load of bullsh*t. My parents have been married 35+ years and although they are excessively oddballish, they obviously love each other.

Realistically speaking, though, our society and personal values are much different than they were 40 years ago.

Marriage is an antiquated institution originally designed to facilitate the transfer of property (woman) between two males (father to husband). That's IT. The whole mystical love thing, can and does exist separately from the $87 legal document that I got with my exhusband (I'm sure it's more expensive now). But the white wedding, spending tens of thousands of dollars on one day, bridezilla thang - that's an institution, for those who should be institutionalized, as one hilarious person said on this site.

Marriage generally works out better for women than men. #1 motivation for getting hitched, IMO, is to procreate.

Personally I enjoy the single, carefree, and irresponsible life. And if I have my drothers I'm gonna stay that way!

Statistics show that married men earn more and are more satisfied than married women. If marriage is particularly hard on anyone, it's women.

I'm not sure where you get your blanket statements from, but you sure make them freely.

p.s. i see no line forming of women who want to marry you. women usually want to marry some one who has at least as sensitive an thoughtful as a turnip.

One bright spot - married men live longer than single ones. ;)

After reading everyones post I don't know if I want to marry or not marry ha ha ha!!!!

I thought I did but then thought I am happy how things are though, marriage is seemingly complicated.. and why is it that you can 'date' for 50 years, marry for 1 and divorce? Is it a money thing? I think I want a prenup if I do get hitched! haaa

I do have a question though. When does the male or female for that matter pack it in on marriage proposals?

Men: What age group are likely to get hitched? Ex: 25-30's Is there ever a too late? or thoughts of ok - I am 36 now, why bother?

Do you young people usually want to get married oppse to say someone in their 40's?

Women: Same question... after a certain age and certain independency that you've grown acustome to, would you give it up for marriage or say screw it, Im happy already?
