Have i put him off

Recently, when i've been at work and making a cup of tea in the kitchen, a colleague has been coming down at the same time. At first i thought it was just coincidence but then it happened quite regularly and i started to think he quite liked me.

 

i've worked with him for about a year and hadn't spoken to him that much, especially not just the two of us. I think he's quite shy, which made it all the more flattering that he made the effort to come down and speak to me.

 

I've started to really like him and we seem to have quite a bit in common. I hadn't really thought of him like that before, until he showed some interest. I think it all started when i made conversation in the office with him a few weeks ago, and then i went down to the kitchen and he came down to carry on the conversation.

 

he carried on coming down at the same time for a few weeks, so i thought i might go down at the same time he did as well, just once or twice so he didnt feel like he was doing all the running, and i thought it might show some interest from my side. But i think that was a mistake!

 

tbh going down the stairs i felt really nervous, and thought how nerve racking it must have been for him to do it. Anyway i got there and it was quite awkward. probably mostly down to me. another colleague was having there lunch and stayed silent, which didn't help, but we did manage to talk a bit.

 

after that i vowed not to go again and just wait for him to come down instead. The week after there were a few of us in the kitchen, including him and we all talked a lot and had a laugh and he stayed back and we had a talk, which was good.

 

Then a week passed and nothing. He didnt come down once, even when it was quiet. So, mistakingly, even though i promised myself i would go down, i did. Just because i missed talking to him. This time it was event more awkward!!

 

Now another week has passed and he's stopped coming down completely.

 

All i can think is that ive totally put him off and have come across as desperate or needy. Unless something else is going on that i don't know about. I'm not sure what to do, if anything. But i'm not going back down again!

 

Did i make a mistake?
