Pocky
Reincarnation is a large component of several religions. While you may find reincarnation implausible, I find the idea of a single god living in some unknown place controlling everything that exists even more implausible. Occam's Razor - (Science can't explain why thousands of people around the world have first hand knowledge about people living previous lives. Until science can disprove the existence of reincarnation, there is still a chance that it can be proven.)
XNemesisX
Wow this sounds a bit crazy to me. If reincarnation were true, then wouldn't we all have past lives we could somewhat recall? I know that I don't. Do you have to have some sort of better psychic ability to be able to recall this? I think that a lot of people believing in this have watched too many movies and have some big imaginations and like to think about their selves as being other people at some other time. Makes life more interesting, maybe. The mind is an amazing thing, and it can make you think/do/believe the strangest of things.

Because science has an accepted explanation about the finality of death, assuming that it's possible that we "un-die" and inhabit a new form is an unneccesary entity. Pocky
Occam's Razor states that entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity. That's not really what Occam's Razor states. Because science has an accepted explanation about the finality of death, assuming that it's possible that we "un-die" and inhabit a new form is an unneccesary entity. But you can make it apply with your above statement. I still consider it applicable to my opinion of reincarnation. Scientific data has been reviewed and while other scientists state that reincarnation is implausible they have no scientific answer for why some children have known facts about previous lives. In my opinion, because you can't disprove reincarnation there's still a chance that it exists, but then that makes me sound much like a creationist doesn't it? Oh well - I'll just have to use the enemy's tactics this one time.

I personally think it depends on each person, how the minds works and how intune we are. Yes, the mind is an amazing thing and we still do not know enough about it and all it's power either. no scientific answer for why some children have known facts about previous lives. In my opinion, because you can't disprove reincarnation there's still a chance that it exists Exactly!! How is it that some, not only children, can have some memories of a past life and others can't? It all comes down to how open minded we are, our belief system and brain talent I guess...I have never remembered any past life, but I do recognize people, familiar feelings and scents...A strong feeling that I knew that person and then finding out how much you have in common from backgrounds, family, humour, numbers, birthdates, situations...That is what makes the hairs stand up on my neck...I know I am not the only one so I am NOT crazy... Well, maybe a little...
Mr Spock
I had the extreme, slightly terrifying feeling of true Deja Vu (sic?) when I was a teenager but I was pretty high at the time. Not comfortable.

However, it is 100% impossible to retrieve thoughts from a "past life", regardless of 'brain talent." Thoughts are electrical impulses within a specific organ of THIS body. When you are developing in the womb, the organ is created from biological "scratch". When you die, the organ loses power and decomposes. Even if we do reincarnate, the science of looking at past lives is smoke and mirrors, and any "familiar feelings and scents" or commonalities with strangers are a combination of the law of averages, confirmation bias, and an overactive imagination. RowanRavyn
See, I hated it when that masked magician ruined all the good tricks. SO, that said: I will take my imagination and such. I know that there are things that are beyond scientific explanation. Call it faith if you will.

In my own personal experience I do believe and there is no 'seen' proof and I can only go on what I feel. I can't figure it out and maybe I should not question it and just go with the flow...But I DO know certain people come into one's life for a reason. And then you have to let it play out to see why and what happens. I don't think it's 'overactive imagination' - more like keeping an open mind and an open spirit for it to happen. RowanRavyn
I know there are things in my life that defy explanation. I know that although my fiance and I only met after I came out here, we both have dream journals dating back eight years that detail 3 identical dreams. Right down to small details. Its also interesting that my daughter looks very much like baby pictures of my fiance and his brother, and nothing like her biological father. Its strange that last Monday I woke up in a cold sweat, with my brother on my mind. I called as soon as it was light here, and found out he had been in the ER all night. Its strange that when my cousin had been missing for several days, I had a dream one night and woke up my daddy and told him about it, and he took me seriously and left out in the middle of the night in a storm, and found my cousins car right where I said it would be, upside down in a stream with the water rising, and unable to be seen from the road. I was only seven or eight at the time. I can't explain any of it, but I know its not my imagination. I also hope that pigs don't fly out your ass Spock, that could be messy. wallaceelf
I think that is pretty outdated, an old tale ta scare the young, I'd say it's just a reflex from the brain in response to some sort of emotion or physical change in the environment: fright, excitement, amazement, cold etc.
