creighton0123
I started getting into a pretty solid fitness routine. Good diet, low on sodium, net calories of 1200 a day. For the first three months, I went from 196 lbs to 180 lbs - gaining visible muscle and dropping from 29% to 22% body fat according to calipers at 5'10" and 29 years old. In the last four weeks, however, I went from 180 to 175. Good loss and I am quite pleased. However, I have begun to notice stomach pains after exercise for the past two and a half weeks. Pain is not on the left or right. It's right in the middle. As a result, I've cut down duration of cardio and brought strength training from 4 days a week to 3. Nothing has changed and I'm at a loss. Diet is the same with 1200 net calories a day. I am not underweight. I am not losing weight too quickly. I even took a week off to recoup. Anyone experience this before and what did you do to overcome this? If it happens another two more workouts, going to have to go to the doctor and ask him.

M30USA
Possibilities off the top of my head: Strain or tear of an abdominal muscle (superficial or deep) Hernia (there are several types)
fluberry
It could be exercise related cramps that occur in the muscles of the abdominal wall. Also another reason could be dehydration from intensive workout...make sure to drink enough water . Go slow with any strenuous exercise .

I suck at breathing...I have to breath through my noes otherwise I get pain in my ribs (which is quite common), but sometimes I still forget. I think for side stich (if that's what your getting) you have to try timing it so you breath in deeply when your left foot hits the ground (I dunno about dancing....not really my strong suit that )

hippetyhop
Any update on your stomach issues?! I feel twinging around my belly button. Not sure what it is, but I'm sure it is exercise related.
Ninjainpajamas
I use to get pains in my stomach really bad sometimes which what I guessed was as a result of drinking too much/too little water while working out...like would make me stop and just bear it for a while, it lasted a few minutes, it would feel like this airy/cramp like feeling that would make me want to heel over and wait it out or sit down. It would happen during my work-out with cardio and it would usually be extensive...like doing stadium stairs or what not or intense work-outs. But it also happened afterward, it just tightened up there and It was like sharp feeling. You might also might want to pay attention to when you eat, like if it's too soon or too early before you work-out, and maybe even avoid "gassy" type foods like proteins before working out, make sure your waist-band isn't too tight either you might be restricting some air flow there. I remember having these off and on though even as a kid and growing up doing sports, spending too much time in the pool too.
