avacado
I've always stuck better to my goals when I told no one about them. Especially lifestyle changes, like working out, meditation, etc, they feel less powerful when I talk about them. Yet other people seem to think you're less prone to back out once you've "committed" to telling other people. Thoughts?
StrongLass
When it comes to motivation what works for many will always be ineffective for some. Be glad that you have the mental discipline to not have to trap yourself into keeping your word (which is essentially what telling everyone about your goals is) Keep doing what works for you. HeartDesires
I keep them private. I've had more success that way. I don't know why.
SpiralOut
I keep most of my goals private. I tend to change my mind a lot, and sometimes it takes me a long time to complete something and I don't like it when people keep nagging me about it. I feel better telling someone what I just did instead of what I want to do. I do have one goal I'll share with certain people, just because I need the extra emotional support. I only tell those who are supportive - usually these are people who have the same goal as me.

If your goal is too far out of most people's reality, then don't tell them. They will try to talk you out of it. I'd say the best thing to do is to surround yourself with people that have similar goals and talk to them about it. Either way, it's always good to have someone to bounce ideas off of.
