15. No one saw this coming (at least from him)

Late one night I receive a text from him. It sounded like he was thinking of texting me for a while. He said how thankful he is to have had me how great I was to him and how much of an ****** he was for leaving me "I don't know what's wrong with me" he says he thinks it was because he was stressed then continues to talk about how things are looking up. I ask if he is contacting me out of guilt he says no.

 

the next day I text him and he's not really responsive I tell him to not give me false hope if he isn't trying to at least be civil. I don't mean to lead you on he says I'm sorry to make it worse. I told him to never contact me again and that he only thinks about himself and not the feelings of other people. (he didn't respond)

 

we needed more time apart because I wanted to at least be friends if nothing at all I really care about him. But I don't see the point in why he contacted me if it wasn't out of guilt so he feels better or him trying to build a friendship.

Sounds like he was feeling guilty and wanted to relieve his own guilt. Needed to make sure you would respond and that you didn't hate him. Don't read too much into it as he wasn't messaging you for you, he was doing it for him.
