Anais
I just got a call from my doctor that she found atypical cells in my Pap Smear. She told me it is nothing to worry and that I need to be back in two or three months for check. Anyone is familiar with it? I went for a general check two weeks before only because I was not been checked for 3 years. Otherwise I had no serious complains. I am very much worried now.
Pocky
Don't be worried. It's not uncommon. I've had several with this result.
tiki
Atypical is common in some, just make sure you recheck....that's the most important thing!
Author Anais
Thank you Pocky. I was worried that she told me to be back in two months. I read some sites telling usually you go back in 6 months. I couldn’t find a good website to read about it.
Author Anais
Thank you Tiki. You are still there? Isn't your wedding this Saturday? I never heard about atypical cells before.
tiki
I leave out Sunday and get married on Monday...thanks for asking. Atypical = not typical, abnormal. I had a recent colposcopy and 2 biopsies for my dysplasia. I go back in January for a recheck.
brashgal
I've had a couple of these. Happily they told you 'atypical' not cancerous. The cervix sluffs cells constantly (I think of it as a self-cleaning feature). Chances are you'll go back in 3 months and they'll be normal. Try not to worry but do keep your appointment.
