A classic example of Christmas spirit

I just witnessed my mother tell my brother that she's not going to give him anything for Christmas but then proceeded with her Christmas gift request. My brother is 19 years old and a student. I interrupted and inquired why she would ask for such a thing when she just said she won't give him anything. Completely dumbfounded by my interruption, she proclaimed that she was going to buy him bed-sheets instead.

Holy crap! This woman's audacity ceases to amaze me. This woman has never bought any real gifts for her children, (she gives money), never encourages her children, hasn't taken the time to get to know her children, and is basically never there for her kids. Now she's thinking she's being generous because she's finally buying long-awaited household necessities?

She also added in anger to my inquiry: "you're supposed to give me a gift...some kids even pitch in money to give their Mom's a gift." She has yet again failed to distinguish between the possible reasons why "such kids" are so thoughtful.

I'm seriously tired of this screwed-up understanding of "I am a Mom because I gave birth to you"... it's as bad as "I'm a dad because it was my sperm". Bastards!!!

As you said.. your Mom doesn't see the big picture that you get what you give...
