Imported
This video was very funny. Pretty sure it wasn't staged as this guy usually does not stage anything. How many times he did it till a girl bit is a different story probably, so I am not saying it proves anything, just thought it was funny. However in my experience, many times over now, women change their attitude when they see my car. Yes, pretty much like how that girls attitude in the video changed. OK, that guy or me, lots of times a girl will be interested regardless of any obvious sign of wealth ( I am not wealthy! I just don't have a lot of bills), but some days...these girls have other things to do, not really feeling it...whatever. Then they see the car and suddenly ...'hey you know, I think I am free that day. Yes, let's go out' ....they give me a chance.
Antenna_Of_Destiny
I have definitely seen this happen, and not only among high schoolers and 20 somethings. What's funny is that they don't know if the guy had to go an arm and leg into debt in order to get the car. When I was 17 I worked overtime the whole summer in order to place excessively expensive rims on my car. I didn't hang out with anyone the entire summer, just work work work for upgrading my car. After that summer women were never the same.
thefooloftheyear
When I was repossessing cars as part of my business, the number one "victim" was 30 something year old guys with new Audi's and 5 series BMW's..So much for that... I collect rare and exotic cars and id be embarrassed to say what their worth...The only women i found that cared were immature and superficial flakes and poser's that fake that they are into it =just so you will find them cool..Most adult women dont give a crap..But I never got them for that reason.. YMMV TFY
Author Imported
I'm not saying women are gold diggers. I am not saying any guy can get in an expensive car and suddenly get women falling all over them. I just think most women walk around with a checklist, of which the major sign-offs are how attractive you look to them, how nice you seem and how well you are able to take care of them. It is not this simple of course. If they see a guy that fills one of those checkoffs, it's not a big deal. Guys come and go and they will eventually meet another guy that also fills that checkoff. If they come across a guy that fills out more than one of those checkoffs, they are not gonna pass it up. You become priority. new Audi's and 5 series BMW's..So much for that... LOL I meet women and things go well and we go out, of course with me driving (unless we cab it) and things go better, much better. I can see them shift gears on me, see the cogs in their heads turning. How far they'll let me go and what they'll do to keep me interested. People say it is not the superficial things that matter, but what if the superficial things are what people subconsciously make decisions about and then rationalize something less superficial in appearance to explain it all?

Author Imported
Sorry is the fool who trades his soul for a Corvette Thinks he'll get the girl, he'll only get the mechanic I'd trade my soul for the 2014 Corvette Stingray!!! Well, not really. I wouldn't trade my soul for anything except people I love. However, the 2014 Corvette Stingray is pretty damn sic! And the cars I have are not for attracting women. That was just a by-product of my cars.
theothersully
Interesting topic. I'd tend to agree. They do spend a little to much time looking at cars. I tend to have a little extra money because I don't use it on cars, for one. I wonder if this hurts my prospects. If I feel the need to impress with a car, I just rent one for the date. lollipopspot
I tend to have a little extra money because I don't use it on cars, for one. I wonder if this hurts my prospects. Don't you live in NY? A lot of people don't have or need cars there. It depends on what area of the country you're in, how important it is. Honestly this kind of thing is nothing to me. In fact, I'd be much more impressed by a guy who drives a fuel-efficient Civic or Prius if he has a car, and bikes when he can, than by someone who drives a guzzler or puts a lot into his car (unless he just really enjoys cars, i.e. he's not using them as a status symbol). It's in a woman's nature to be attracted to materialism and other signs of wealth and status. Oh come on.
thefooloftheyear
You would be surprised what women find impressive/cool..I need a pickup truck for my business, and I do treat myself here as I have a really nice, all black, diesel powered rig...Its loud and powerful, makes a little black smoke like all diesels do, .Its all decked out and black is my favorite color, but I am frankly shocked at how much of a pussy magnet that damned truck is!...Even the business suit types are all over it!.. .Not really sure why?? Its just a nice work truck!..*shrug* TFY

You make a good point... i think it taps into the part of their brain that sees men as providers/protectors..A nice car can be a sign of relative wealth, which most women find as an attractive quality in men. I guess it matters not, at the outset, if they are one missed payment from the repo guy or its their fathers car! ..(not saying this is the case with you-btw) TFY
Pompeii
It's true, that's why it's all about aesthetics, status and cash. "I ain't saying she a gold digger, but she don't want no broke niggas" - Kanye West
Outsider77
I couldn't care less what kind of car a man drives, unless it's a broken down junk-bucket. Guys with flashy cars actually are a turn-off for me. Don't want a guy that feels he has try to impress everybody. Now if it's a cool classic car, that's different. People usually get those to fix up as a hobby. Girls who are easily impressed by nice cars are shallow, in my opinion.

Author Imported
Er, actually I am the exact opposite. Guys with flashy cars or guys who display their wealth are major turn offs to me. And I know lots of women like this so it's not always true. My daily driver is a 2010 M5. I lowered it slightly and then just some very minor engine mods. It's fairly refined looking on the outside. It's a 4 door! I love the interior. Seats are very nice and everything is done up in deep dark red leather with some black accents. 6 speed manual of course. And all paid off for 2 months ago. I don't think most girls will look at it and realize the difference between any 5 series and the M. So I don't think it really matters. I think just having something nice is all a guy needs for most girls. You can't just show up in a junker. I mean you can, but even when a girl says "stuff like that doesn't matter to me....", you're going to get categorized differently. How a girl reacts to what you do will be different. No one wants to appear shallow, but decisions and choices will usually get made based on shallow things hidden with excuses to make the person deciding not think they choose for shallow reasons. I think the interior matters most (provided the exterior is decent enough). Always go for leather. Girls get in and just curl up and stretch on my seats lol. I know they are thinking good thoughts. It's always the same.

Kate9292
Easy there, boys. Just because I like nice cars doesn't mean I will sleep with the guy who has one if I don't like him either way. I have some self-respect too you know? None of the guys I've ever slept with had a sports/luxury car as far as I know and I'm fine with that.

Sanman
These things do happen. I was at a friend's birthday with some friends of hi gf I never knew. This one girl had not really paid much attention to me ever though we were seated next to each other at the bar. During the conversation, something about my job was mentioned. She immediately stopped the conversation asked me if I was a doctor and, when I said yes, asked me my name again. I had her undivided attention for the next 5-10 minutes until I casually mentioned my gf in the conversation. She did not say two words to me the rest of the night after she found that out. Hmm, I wonder why she was interested? So there are some like this out there. I can tell you that I a decent looking guy with a good sense of humor, but my career clearly makes me more of a catch to women.
carhill
Then they see the car and suddenly ...'hey you know, I think I am free that day. Yes, let's go out' ....they give me a chance. In my demographic, shiny bauble cars can easily be leased as a business deduction, so the real meat isn't in the car or even in the primary residence, rather in the 'fun' places, like a mountain cabin or lake/beach house. I've been installing a tankless water heater in a friend's attic the last couple days and kind of enjoy driving up to their gated neighborhood in my beat up old truck and keying in the security code to get in. Never have to worry about people stealing things out of it nor forming any cogent clue about my financial success or lack of it from what they see. Fun times.
RedRobin
Funny. When I owned a Porsche that I bought 100% with my own money, everyone thought I must have got it from a man somehow (I'm a woman). Even my co-workers asked me where I got the money (because my field isn't exactly known for creating lots of rich people). I told them that I bought a house well below my means... I don't have any debt... and didn't have a spouse to tell me no. Anyway, there were times I really had a field day with that stereotype... I'd play that song from Kanye West full blast with the top down just for fun. I suppose to this day there are some people who might think I have a thing for fancy cars... no. Not really. I have a thing for beautiful engineering... and frugality in general. The modern electric or hybrids are more fascinating to me right now than an expensive sports car. Although, On my bucket list is restoring an old Karmann Ghia (see below). Yea, it has a VW engine. It's no sports car. So yea, if the guy doesn't know the specs on his ride (whatever it is), he probably wouldn't impress me that much. It's just a car. I'm not impressed by flashy things. More impressed with how things work. Edited October 28, 2013 by RedRobin

Either that or a porsche 356 speedster replica. However, I need a house for that. Maybe I will stick with a miata with some suspension upgrades or an frs for now.
carhill
Although, On my bucket list is restoring an old Karmann Ghia (see below). Yea, it has a VW engine. It's no sports car. Interesting how when you mention that, I recall two things; one, how they smell, as it's wonderful to be following a vintage car and smelling how engine exhaust used to smell without all the smog equipment and, two, working on one as a kid, as my neighbor had one, along with a 'bug' (regular Volkswagen) and a 1913 Buick touring sedan. The neighbor saw me working on lawn mower engines when I was ten or eleven and decided he'd step up the ante to car engines. Those pancake fours were so simple and so much fun and no worries about coolant leaks, though oil leaks were always a challenge! Out here in Cali, there's been a counterculture surge of what we call 'rat rods' which are old cars/trucks which look like they've been dragged out of a field after sitting for decades. Nothing shiny about them. Underneath, though, they're as reliable as any new car, except with 'patina'. Such nuances are why I always recommend to women looking for single and successful men to go to car shows. Besides, it's a lot of fun

Yes, it is the VW simplicity that I really love. It's what inspired me to get my first Subaru back in the day because they got licensing rights to parts of the VW design. Water cooled now, of course. Miatas have a rep as a 'chick' car for some reason. Not sure why. They are very reliable and fun cars... I thought about getting one of them before I got the Boxster. I test drove the other convertibles in its class (and a bit beyond)... that mid engine design from Porsche really hugs the curves. Although, maintenance isn't cheap. I kept it for two years then sold it in still perfect condition before it needed anything major... or had any door dings. When I started worrying more about door dings than having fun with it... is when I got rid of it. Although, whenever I hear a Porsche engine anywhere nearby I get a little sentimental. No, I'm not lusting for the guy. I'd kick him out and take his car. ha ha. (yes, I know. Typical woman) ... but this made me think of something... If I walked up to a guy with a hot rod, he'd probably think I was making the moves on him rather than just wanting to hear about his cool ride! If I have to bat my eyelashes so he'll tell me all there is to know about his wheels, ok... I can do that! ha ha Edited October 28, 2013 by RedRobin

When is gets too old for fun drives to the beach....gut the interior, put a roll cage in it, and go racing (a roll cage makes anything manlier). IIRC, Carhill has a pretty sweet '66 mustang I would not mind taking a look at either. Simple, good looking, and plenty of nos and repro parts.
