irc333
I have a friend of mine who kind of went away from the Meetup groups and found himself attending these events that , let's just say, more "Ritzier" than most. Margarita Balls, Black And White Parties, etc, where everyone is dressed to the 9's. The women, as opposed to Meetups, are pretty darned attractive, with their little black dresses and of course all doing the classy "Holding the wineglass" pose in their photos. One day , my friend had a B-day party at a local more outdoors related event at a state park, where people went tubing, played volleyball, BBQ Burgers on the grill that had been used a billion time by previous patrons. Most of the people who were going were regular Meetup patrons, however, I had mentioned, "Hey, aren't some of your lady friends from that 'other' group going to be at your B-day party?" And said he had sent them an invite, but seriously doubted they would show, because it simply wasn't their "thing" to do. Apparently, 99% of their social lives involves upscale wining and dining venues or hanging out at night clubs or upscale downtown bars/restaurants....and that's pretty much the extent of their interests on the weekends. Anyone here know people that's simply ALL that they do?
Shepp
No......because anyone like that sure as hell wouldn't want to know me! :lmao: Wow, its weird how people can live on the same planet yet in totally different worlds!
TheBathWater
We are all way more alike than we are different. It sounds like social affiliation to me. I imagine it's less about the image of an event and more about the attitudes underlying it that unify people (whether this be a heavy metal concert or a wine and cheese tasting party). pteromom
Yes, I know people like that. People who wouldn't be caught dead tubing and grilling. I also know people who wouldn't be caught dead at a ball holding a wine glass.
EasyHeart
Most of the people I know are like that. It's cultural as much as it is financial. Some people are born into money so that's all they know. Tubing and grilling out are just things they've seen in movies. Other people aspire to be rich, so they think they need to do things rich people do. I know women who go to polo matches and theatre events because they figure that's the place to meet rich men. (I never even knew we had polo matches where I live, but we do!) I think the important thing is to be yourself. If you don't like doing something, don't do it. You might think that you're missing out on the chance to meet attractive women, but the reality is that those women would make your life miserable.
Author irc333
Yeah, key word "aspire" in the mean time they are in thousands of dollars in credit card debt. LOL Yeah, I know what you mean....at a recent Halloween party ...both the Meetup and Facebook circles of the friends of the same person who did the invite to everyone. We wound up ALL intermingling with one another...so you could say they the "beautiful" women had been launched into it ...but it's a once a year event and chances are of seeing them again are slim to none. Though these women were smokin' hot in their Halloween costumes, I've went back through the invite list of these women and noticed that the person who invited me and a few others that told me of the party were "mutual friends" of people that hang in that "scene". Chances are if I had even attempted to make some kind of move, they'd find out what I did for a living and say "see ya!" lol Most of the people I know are like that. Woggle
Doesn't sound like a scene I want to be in anyway.
