Should I deactivate my Facebook account to refocus on my life?

I finally cut the cord earlier this week. It was harder on me than I thought but I know it's for the better.

I told him we don't belong in each others lives (all he ever wants of me is sex but tries to keep me around as a "friend"). He said he didn't agree that we need to be out of each others lives.

I deleted him from FB. I'm sure he's noticed because I know he used to stalk me all the time, despite only contacting me when it was on his clock and wanting to hang out on his clock.

I feel like I said too much Monday night. I had a little too much wine and feel I shouldn't have said all I did. I'm tempted to tell him "hi..." "Sorry for saying so much the other night"...

However my desired outcome is only to save face and feel a little better about the way I ended it. I don't care if he texts back, I just will feel better knowing I said it. Just wondering if I will end up feeling more stupid tomorrow if I do this, even if now it feels somewhat ok?

Stop while you are ahead. It's uncomfortable to cut someone out of your life, but it sounds like you are making a very wise decision with this guy. Stick to your guns! Who cares what he thinks, if you are done with him?

It's just he kept saying we are friends, and I've never "broken up" or cut ties with a "friend" before, so part of me continues to feel petty for being so drastic and deleting him from FB.. But this whole little situation has carried on more than a year, and it was getting hard for me to move on always seeing him and him texting me very couple weeks.

I guess I just wonder if I shouldn't have gone to that extreme, so now I'm feeling guilt like I should apologize....

You did fine. Don't get pulled back into what sounds like an unhealthy pattern for you. Stay strong, put him in the past, and move on to someone whose expectations match yours.

Sending good thoughts!

The result you want is achieved.. Going back sends mixed signals.

U are done.

If you were just friends, you would be on here posting.

Thank you... I could use some strength tonight to resist this! :)

Texting him isnt cutting the cord like you said. Just leave it be. In fact you risk getting sucked back in. No text. Nothing but silence. And no guilt. It is over. Kepp it that way. Cav

Ya seems like every time I've done it in the past, he will text me a month later and I get sucked back in. Those times I didn't officially "delete" him though so I'm thinking this time I def won't hear from him again, but I guess it's for the better

I just didn't realiZe I was so "addicted" to this negative attention he was giving me this whole time... Even though I knew I deserved better. That's why I'm starting to doubt I guess... I don't want him to have this "negative" perception of me.

It sucks when we embarrass ourselves. We just have to accept it and really use it to learn from.

To prevent any further embarrassment, you should leave it as is like the other posters advise.

As an update, after posting this thread and hearing some feedback it helped me to NOT text him and I have to admit... I feel glad I didn't. :)

Thanks to all who chimed in and continue to help me with this.

Take down pics of you two and everything. Then deactivate and take time to figure out if you want to return I Facebook or not.
