crederer
I fell and landed right on my tailbone about a week ago. It's extremely painful. I've had a lot of broken bones and this one is the most uncomfortable. Every movement I make hurts, especially the motion of standing up and sitting down. Once I'm sitting or lying down it's not that bad, it's when I'm right in the middle of standing up that it's soooooo bad. Doctor said there isn't much to do, it'll heal over time. Any ways, I noticed drinking to the point of getting a buzz makes the pain almost non existant. I mean literally, hardly any pain at all, just a slight discomfort but not pain. Obviously drinking in excess is a bad idea, but the main question I have is does it greatly impede the healing process? It's the only thing that works, even prescription pain killers haven't been working very well, and I don't know if they're exactly a healthier option than alcohol. I literally have to psych myself up for a few minutes before standing up.
lop98
Two bowls: one with iced water, the other with hot water. Lay on your bed, grab a small towel, put it in the iced water, press against your tailbone for a minute or two, then proceed with the hot water. Repeat until you get bored. Do this at least twice a day. I hurt my tailbone twice in the past, it really works. Also while you're taking a shower, try changing the temperature drastically and let it hit your tailbone (if you can tolerate it, if not, just close enough).
FitChick
This happened to me when I took a hang gliding lesson. I feel (felt!) your pain. It felt like my spine had "telescoped." Saw my chiropractor and she eased me out of it after a few sessions.
