ScreamingTrees
I recently went to the doctor and was put down as 69 inches of height.. Now, I was most likely around 67 inches or so two years ago, when I was 18. I personally don't feel any taller, but I'm assuming that an inch difference each year is quite subtle.. Is this uncommon? Did anyone else here grow significantly (an inch, or greater) past the age of 18? Did anyone here actually grow even an inch taller in their early to mid twenties? (Which seems to be the absolute cut off for height changes) Or would I be a freak of nature if I did grow another inch taller before I reached that point?
M30USA
Men continue to grow in height until as late as 25. Women typically stop by 16. I didn't stop growing until Junior year of college (age 21).
samsungxoxo
Usually 18 is the age most people stop growing, though guys have higher chances of still having a growth spurt pass that age. OP, 1-2 inch is the normal late growth spurt for a female. However, genes and a good diet both play an important role in your predicted adult height. A childhood male friend of mine has short parents and stopped growing at 5'6 by age 16. I stopped growing at 5'7, a couple months shy of turning 18. Afterward, the only thing I grew in was in bra size.

So I'm guessing I may be an anomaly, because I'm 20 now and have apparently continued to grow an inch a year since I was 18. I'm hoping that I could grow another two inches or so in the next five years, but it's no big deal if I remain 5'9. I can't imagine not even growing even just another inch in five years, though. Ninjainpajamas
Well you're probably not going to grow anymore....at 15-16 years old I was 5'11, and I have grown an inch or two at best from that point somewhere in my early 20's, so I'd say it's pretty much over at that point...but I'm no doctor. My friends seemed about the same. However I do continue to grow sideways and backwards and forwards at times, just not up anymore.
Dan.90
No, it's not uncommon to grow past the age of 18. This happened to me. Right now I'm 24 years old and last year I went from 6'1 till 6'3. I assume that was my final growth spurt. As a 15 year-old HS freshman I was only 5'4 and 5'8 as a HS senior. This is really genetic. My grandfather is also my same height and it took him until his 20's to get there. He was short as a kid and early-mid teen years.
Editbee
Women typically stop by 16. I didn't stop growing until Junior year of college (age 21).Then I must be weird for a woman. From the time I was 16-20, I went from 5'5 to 5'9. Not just that but also a shoe size increase (8-9). Edited November 16, 2013 by Editbee

Honestly, your very gradual growth pattern with short spurts paced years apart sounds similar to mine. I've also pretty much gone from 5'5 to 5'9 from around 16 to now, at 20, as well. I can relate to you and editbee (whose pattern seems just as odd for a female as mine may sound for a male lol), basically. Who knows if it'll stop. Can't see myself ever being nearly as tall as you've become, but then again I couldn't see myself ever being taller than what I was at 18 either.
Eclypse
Sigh, I haven't grown a single cm since 14. Thankfully I was 5'11 then so it's not too bad. Still it sucked going from being the tallest kid in class to being decidedly average. I'm 23 now.

Human height - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Going from this list, the only countries that I can see being even over 5'10 on average are mostly Nordic/Baltic countries (only a small handful, basically) with the odd Balkan country or two, and of course the Netherlands.. With an unspecified % of the population being a half inch over 6 feet even, and 92% of the population over 15 self-reported to be 5'11.. Which isn't accurate, to say the least. I don't see 5'10+ as the average in most countries. Maybe in specific parts of the US, depending on the immigrant demographics.
PogoStick
I only grew 6 inches since 12. Now I'm up to 9.

Miracle90
Only an inch, not that it makes that much of a difference. It was a year after our HS graduation when my 5'5 female friend told me I looked a bit taller than her. She was right. I've grown to 5'6. Funny how they can tell even if you're just an inch taller than them.
