recurring staph infection

Recommended Posts

this is embarrassing! but for the past 2 years now, when the weather turns, and my nose runs.... i end up getting a staph infection in both my nostrils!

it hurts, basically it looks super chapped, red and raw. and i get a sore right where the snot pools up, like right before it would drip out.

my doc. said little kids usually get this sort of thing...from picking their noses no less! but i do not pick my nose, and i only use tissues to blow it or wipe it.

i just do not know why it keeps coming back....

If your doc says its a staph infection then you may be a staph carrier. Which means its in your body and lays dormant until it decides to surface. Looks like he might would have told you thats a possibility. I think theres a test to do to see if you are a carrier of staph, ask your doc and see.

Well staph, a type of bacteria, can grow almost anywhere so no big surprise where you're getting it......but my only question would be.....have you been on the proper antibiotics for it? And have you taken them faithfully as ordered, not missing any doses or stopping before you've taken the full course? It's possible you got it a second time because of the above and it hadn't fully cleared up. How did he diagnose staph, did he do a swab and send it off to the lab to be confirmed it's staph?

TMT, be careful with this staph infection.

1. Does your doc know exactly what type of staph it is? Is it gram negative or positive?

2. Has he treated you with the proper antibiotics show by sensitivities to an actual culture or smear?

3. has he cultured the throat, nose and blood?

4. did he re culture you after the infection was gone?

I am concerned this could be MRSA?!

If you can provide me on a PM the causative agent if known I can give you concrete feed back! But I will need the actual causative bacteria and whether it is gram positive or negative?

Ok, Tatoomytoe, Max has always had the hots for your cyber-personna but this Red and Raw, Where the Snot Pools Up, thing, is really cashing some heavy NSF checks in that department. :bunny:
