Christmas Wish

I have only one gift that I want for Christmas this year and that is that I get the strength and courage to learn who I really am and accept and appreciate myself for the person I am. I hope that I will be able to fully realize that it is not what other people have done that causes pain but instead how I react to it. Life hasn't always given me what I want but I hope that one day I will be able to move on without anger or guilt and feel instead that how I feel is my choice, not dependant on what others do or say. I feel like a child sometimes, dependant on others for my happiness when deep down inside I know that my happiness can only come from within. Thanks to everyone for your posts that have inspired and supported me when I have been down. God bless all of you and merry Christmas.

You are not alone...I am too wishing for the same things for you, me and all of us who have come here for support.

Merry Christmas!

I can fully understand what you are saying. Its like my head tells me that I'm in control but sometimes my heart says differently. Understanding and controlling our own emotions is, I think, the most difficult thing to do for ourselves.

When hubby and I had problems and went through counseling we were told that we are in control of ourselves and we were given tools to help us understand and work on ourselves. It's not an easy road and it takes periodic reinforcements - daily sometimes - to keep our heads above the ocean of our emotions, but it can be done with hard work.

Something that has truly, honestly helped me with reinforcing my own commitment to myself and to staying on top of my emotions is LoveShack. What I read, and what I write here, helps me focus and understand myself and LoveShack is the BEST support system and resource for my own personal growth that I have ever found. It is invaluable to me because I can reach out to help and reach out to receive help and that means the world to me. Everyone here - regular members and passersby (even trolls) - continue to help me help myself.

I am a stronger person in real life for having been part of the community here.
